KAC’s SR-25 U.S. SPEC OPS

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

With the BulletFlight iPod app, marksmen have 900M, cold-bore accuracy in the palm of their hands!

The semi-automatic action allows operators to engage multiple targets. Its similarity in appearance to a standard M-16 diminishes the likelihood of an enemy’s observation of a sniper’s presence during insertions with friendly patrols.

The SR-25 is the weapon platform that ushered in, or was rather a product of, a paradigm shift in the U.S. military’s thinking on sniper weapons. KAC’s (Knight’s Armament Company) SR-25 system has come to the battlefield and provides U.S. Special Operations Forces an accurate, semi-automatic platform with bolt-gun accuracy on multiple targets out to 800 meters, and eliminates the need for snipers to carry a defensive second rifle. Built into the familiar Stoner/AR design, the SR-25 can deliver five shots in five seconds and carries a 20-round magazine, thus surpassing the bolt-action rifle in both rate and duration of fire.

Chambered for the 7.62×51mm (.308) round, the SR-25’s design is both an extension of existing weapons development and a radical step forward. To support and extend the rifle’s battlefield sustainability, 60% of the parts are interchangeable with the AR-15/M16 system. Significant changes begin with the free-floating, match grade barrel that is now delivered in a 20-inch Obermeyer steel alloy and 16-inch chrome plated versions capable of sustained .5 MOA accuracy. The rotating bolt and direct-impingement gas system is based on Eugene Stoner’s designs and evolved further by C. Reed Knight, Jr. In order to both protect the free-floating barrel and accommodate sighting and rail mounted devices, KAC developed the Rail Adapter System II Upper Receiver Extension (RASIIURX). While slight variations exist between the Army, Navy and Marine Corp packages, the SR-25 system is typically outfitted with the 3.5-10×40mm Leupold Mk IV mil-dot scope, Harris bipod and KAC QD suppressor. Variants delivered to U.S. forces include more than 3,000 of the U.S. Army’s M110 SASS (Semi-Automatic Sniper System) and the 3,500 of U.S. Navy’s and Marine Corp’s Mk 11 Mod 0, 1&2. These deliveries are not only for use in the scout/sniper ranks, but are also finding themselves in the grateful hands of an increasing number of Designated Marksmen. Other branches of the U.S. government including the Department of State and Department of Energy have also adopted versions for their respective missions. Both in the hands of the trained sniper and the Designated Marksman, the SR-25 variants have seen direct action with Allied forces for more than six years. David Jones, a retired SEAL sniper who carried the Mk11 Mod 0 throughout two tours in Afghanistan, consistently had 1MOA accuracy out to 1,100 yards.

Firefight Transitions

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Life-saving time and space management skills for switching from long gun to handgun and back again!

With practice, transitioning from your long gun to handgun can be accomplished very quickly. Here, the handgun is on target as the long gun is being slung. Taking a knee can also make you a smaller target as you fix your primary weapon.

It doesn’t take a brilliant strategist to realize that a long gun, such as an AR-15 or a shotgun, is typically preferable to a handgun in a gunfight. Superior ballistic performance and enhanced accuracy make the long gun your “primary” weapon, but there are bound to be times when it’s necessary to transition to your handgun.

When your primary weapon malfunctions or runs empty within your effective handgun range, you’re better off engaging the threat with your handgun than trying to fix your long gun. In a close-quarter environment, you might opt to transition from a fully functional long gun to a handgun for its maneuverability, which makes it easier to negotiate corners without the gun preceding your movement. The handgun, even at the ready, also affords you a free hand with which to open doors, move obstacles or fight. In any case, you need to be well versed in transitioning from one weapon to another to afford yourself every advantage during a high-stress encounter.

If in the event your long gun malfunctions and leaves you vulnerable, to transition without a sling, simply pull the long gun in close to your body while drawing your handgun.

Sling Considerations

There are several types of slings on the market. Two of the most popular and practical slings are the single-point and the two-point styles. As their name implies, single-point slings have only one point of contact to the weapon, which is typically attached to an aftermarket receiver plate. Two-point slings are usually affixed to sling mounts positioned along the barrel and stock, or strapped around the stock itself.

CQ-Flash

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Airsoft life in Germany is a little bit of a bummer. It seems that you cannot attach real tactical lights in your airsoft gun.

In that case, we have 2 boxes of CQ-Flash that we intend to be disabled into non-working dummies. It is such a waste but airsoft players want to look cool, even to the extent of using dummy lights. Well, I also have dummer peq lasers on mine so why not them also.

So, to our friends in Germany, enjoy these tactical lights!

Offset Sight Systems

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Rock-solid canted optical/sight sets that bridge the gap between long range and CQB!

A canted sight system gives you the ability to instantaneously switch from a longer-range optic to a close-range CQB sight.

For a law enforcement officer, the issue of setting up a patrol long gun raises several questions. Will it be used primarily (or even exclusively) for CQB/entry duties, or will you be faced with longer-range shots, pushing into the realm of the precision rifle? Do you want basic iron sights or a red dot unit for ultra-close-range engagements, or a magnified sight for the precision work?

Well, one solution is to have both. Simply put, there is a growing trend with serious long gun shooters for having a combination of these two types of sighting systems through the use of offset (canted) sighting systems. In the next couple of pages, we’ll consider different canted sight platforms and how to use them to your benefit.

Dynamic Warriors

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Run the gun and your mind through Magpul’s high-speed, low-drag carbine course with today’s top tactical operators!

Little of the Magpul Dynamics course is standing on the flat range firing numbered shot counts. Students are taught to move, turn, problem solve and deliver accurate shots.

To check out the company that has sold more than 1.5 million polymer magazines and whose training division raised the bar on instructional videos with its Art of the Dynamic Carbine (1&2), Art of Dynamic Handgun and Aerial Platform Operations Series, TW stepped inside the Magpul Dynamics’ Dynamic Carbine Course in Hammond, LA to see if these guys are as good as their videos.

Dynamic Carbine 1: Building the Fundamentals

"We will give the students an honest snapshot of themselves, very quickly,” says Chris Costa, Magpul Dynamics Instructor. The Dynamic Carbine 1 course brought together shooters from across the country and throughout the range of shooting experience. There were several husband and wife attendees, a father and son, as well as law enforcement, hobbyists, and professional security contractors. After a detailed safety briefing, instructors Costa, Haley, and Olivella began building up the fundamentals in their students. Starting with basic body position, stance, and trigger control, the class moved to confirming zero on their optics. Once zeroed, in-depth work began on sight picture/sight alignment differences at ranges from 5 to 50 yards. Reload techniques such as speed (under fire), tactical (in action, but covered), and admin (no threat, get re-organized) were covered, as well as malfunction drills (double-feed, mag failure, mis-fire, stovepipe).

Instructor demonstrates the supine position. The position is a critical skill that allows shooter to tactically recover from a slip or dramatically reduce his profile while continuing to deliver well-aimed shots under fire.

As the course continued over the next three days, BSA drills (“Balance of Speed and Accuracy”) became a common element. The BSA drill measures timed rounds into an 8-inch center-mass circle on the man-sized Magpul targets. Students were encouraged to push their limits from standing, kneeling, and prone positions at varying distances. The targets told the tale: If the group was too tight with no hits outside the circle, speed was lacking. If the group was scattered outside the circle, the shooter should slow down and concentrate on body position and accuracy. This litmus test gave each student instant feedback at every drill as to how fast he/she could push the rifle and put combat-effective hits on the target.

Magpul tests both decision making and weapons handling skills. Above, a student engages multiple targets from the open window of a vehicle.

On the afternoon of day two, the instructors conducted a “mini” handgun course. While the handgun is typically a class unto itself, the transition to the handgun in the event of a carbine malfunction at close range is a crucial skill and would become a part of many of our subsequent drills. Day three brought a significant increase in the pace of the drills, which now included weapons transitions, timed speed events, movement to multiple targets and barricade obstacle shooting. Dynamic Carbine 1 ended with shooters more confident, competent, and mindful than when they arrived.

Smith & Wesson Bodyguards

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Laser-equipped deep-cover .38 snubbie and .380 auto — ideal for back-up carry!

WHEN IT COMES TO HAVING A CORNER ON THE DEEP-COVER carry market, nobody beats out Smith & Wesson. Beginning with the “Chief’s Special,” an ultra-compact snubnose packing five rounds of .38 Special into the tiny J-frame package, the company created the basis for what would become the iconic deep-concealment revolver and back-up gun for law enforcement officers around the country.

An integrated Insight red laser sight assembly is located to the right rear of the cylinder on the Bodyguard 38.

With lightweight variants, differently chambered versions, and ones with longer barrels or different grips or different sights, it seemed that just about every variation of the design was developed for every conceivable contingency. However, at its core, the classic J-frame was a design from a different era, being first offered in the 1950s, and one that was both time-consuming and relatively expensive to manufacture.

Although sales were (and still are) extremely strong on the traditional J-frames, Smith & Wesson recognized that there was a need for the development of a radically modern deep-concealment revolver—one that took advantage of the most modern of materials and construction methods and that hit a lower retail price point.

The Insight laser module of the 380 is internally located within the dustcover portion of the polymer frame. Note the light gray round activation button.

Concurrent with this realization was an acknowledgement on Smith & Wesson’s part of the extreme demand in the market for deep-concealment semi-autos chambered in .380 ACP that offered good power in a very small package. In response, the company began the process of developing what we now know today as the “Bodyguards”—a .38 Special revolver and .380 ACP sub-compact autopistol.

Eotech’s EXPS3-2 Sight

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Evolution of the Holographic Weapon Sight — getting on target faster when seconds count!

When asked which sight to use on an AR15 platform, the EOTech is generally a first choice. It just works so well on the platform, and is truly well suited for police work. There is certainly nothing wrong with a simple red dot system, but the larger reticle with various aiming points simply lends itself to what police officers do. It allows for many reference points at varying distances to compensate for sight offset, without the need to necessarily look for a dot. As a rather staunch adherent to the concept of focusing on the threat and not the sight, this system works really well. When precision is paramount, the center dot can be used. At CQB distances, you need simply put the threat in the correct portion of the reticle and go to work. It has always proven to be very fast, accurate and precise when needed.

The EXPS3-2 takes up little space on the rails, easily accommodating additional accessories such as NVDs or the G23.FTS magnifier.

The mounting system right out of the box co-witnesses most BUIS systems designed for the AR Platform, thus removing the need to buy another mount. It zeroes easily with no special tools and, depending on the model, accommodates night vision equipment as well. In the case of the XPS, mounting that 123 battery transversely really cuts down on the size. For years my preference was the N-battery model for just that reason; it just makes it so compact.

The EXPS3 system is available in two configurations, the only real difference being the reticle. The EXPS3-0 uses the standard 65 MOA reticle with a single 1 MOA aiming dot. The EXPS3-2 uses a 65 MOA reticle but contains two, 1 MOA aiming dots (the sight provided has these two aiming dots). There are some other changes to this system as well. The battery cap and latch are gone, replaced by a simple O-ring and cap tethered to the sight. It also utilizes a quick release system that is shorter, more compact, and goes on and off very easily. Lastly, buttons are mounted to the side in order to accommodate the use of night vision or the three-power magnifier.

The first thing observed was the clarity of the reticle. Not sure if they changed anything, but this one just seemed to be more “solid” to me. There was a bit less of the pixelation that is sometimes seen. It was mounted to my Para USA TTR for the bulk of the live fire testing; but was fitted to several other uppers.

The mount is really easy to get on and off. A simple push of the button in the front of the mount and it comes loose. It fit with no adjustment on all of my upper receivers and the Para USA TTR.

Sig Sauer M400 5.56mm

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Tactical AR carbine with Swiss precision and classic DGIS operation!

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. And when it comes to Eugene Stoner’s original direct gas impingement system (DGIS), that is exactly the feeling of many AR rifle fans. In all fairness, the AR platform has been successfully serving militaries worldwide, including our own, for more than 40 years.

The SIG M400 is a traditional direct gas impingement system AR carbine with key improvements that is ready for duty use. Shown equipped with the Aimpoint Patrol Rifle Optic with 3X Magnifier.

This may explain why Sig Sauer, which originally entered the AR market with the gas piston-driven SIG516, is now offering its M400 variant, a true-blue direct gas impingement semi-auto AR carbine. Chambered in 5.56×45 mm NATO, the M400 appears and operates like a standard AR but with many unique Sig Sauer enhancements that set this rifle apart. The result is a high-quality AR ideal for law enforcement patrol use.

Quick-detach sling attachment points are machined directly into the lower of the M400, making ambidextrous use of a sling simple and easy.

How a 150-year-old Swiss wagon manufacturer started making muskets for their nation’s military and ended up manufacturing some of the best AR rifles in the U.S. is undoubtedly a long and interesting story. Unquestionably, “Swiss-made” is synonymous with quality, and when it comes to their national defense this commitment to reliability, effectiveness and attention to detail is carried to the Nth degree.

The oval polymer handguards feature double aluminum heat shields that effectively kept the rifle cool, protecting the shooter.

Combat-Ready Plate Carriers

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

TYR’s lightweight, ergonomic plate carriers

Mission adaptable, TYR’s Pals Adapter Panels can hold more plates or magazines.

Norse pagans of the early Middle Ages believed in supernatural beings and many gods. Tyr was one of those gods, and he symbolized single combat, victory and heroic glory in Norse mythology. Interestingly, “single combat” is considered a duel between two individual warriors that takes place within the context of a battle between two armies. Everyone else looked upon these two warriors as the true champions of each side—the best.

TYR’s PICO Assaulters Plate Carrier can fit 12×9 plates, and has an antimicrobial mesh on the inside part of the vest. Even on a warm day, the vest won’t feel too hot.

After spending several days wearing one of TYR Tactical’s plate carriers, the meaning behind the name starts to settle in a little deeper. Someone took time and effort researching the name and what it means, and how it would convey a message to the current and future users of the product. They also took into consideration what the name means to those developing, engineering, testing and manufacturing the product. It’s no small undertaking, and it’s what the very best companies do when they are serious about who they are and their intended goals. It’s easy enough to pull some cool-sounding name out of the air, but this name involves specifics, detail, and mindset.

No shortcuts taken here—the mesh and padding carry over to the side panels. TYR has done a great job with this design.

Mission-Ready Outfitting

Now it’s making sense. I’ve been looking for this plate carrier for roughly four years. Maybe not this specific one, but a version just like it. I introduce to you the TYR Tactical PICO Assaulters Plate Carrier, Version 2. This is a standalone carrier. You might describe it as the lightest, most comfortable, extremely durable plate carrier you can lay your hands on in today’s market. It fits right, is comfortable and should allow you to set it up to your personal liking. If you’re an end-user who must wear one of these all day everyday, the weight savings should be a major factor and attraction for you.

HiCAPA Custom Match

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

The New Tokyo Marui HiCAPA Match Custom. It comes with a silver colored box, but on the inside it is the same HiCAPA styropor box. It comes with the standard HiCAPA Manual and additional Match Custom cover page. The new shining magazine looks so inviting so we tested already and our chronometer shows a consistent power of 83 meter/second (room temperature), although we got a reading of 85-87m/s on an extended magazine. The double tap speed is almost the same as of the HiCAPA series.

The gun is a little bit lighter due to the cuts to the upperside and lowerside of it. The cut looks really good and in perfect symmetry. The fibre optic front sight looks great and it helps us aim in low light condition.

The package also includes an underside rail for light or laser attachment, can be installed using two screws which are provided. Although you can place the rail in its proper place, you still have to drill the holes for the screw, which I am a little disappointed why they made it that way. There’s also a groove on the lower part of the slide for installing rails for optics.

Another thing that they included in the box is a patch of nonslip grip tape, again the disappointment comes when I found out that there is no die-cutting on the tape. But it did come with a template for cutting it, so I guess Tokyo Marui is expecting users to do it themselves, Extra design templates are available at Tokyo Marui website.

All in all, is it a very nice and sturdy gun, another plus for Tokyo Marui. I would highly recommend this gun for IPSC beginners, who likes accuracy and speed. Although it still need a lot of mods and accessories to make this gun a really excellent IPSC gun.

Dynamic Covert .308

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

The DTA bullpup SRS gets wrung out Magpul Dynamics’ Precision Rifle Course!

Tailor-made for the urban SWAT sniper, the DTA Covert can deploy quickly, fully assembled, from within vehicles.

Modern warfare has not seen a sniper/counter-sniper environment of this type since the battle for Stalingrad. The open desert and urban environments of Iraq, the crags and peaks of Afghanistan, paired with an unconventional insurgent enemy, created a vast battlefield of long-range engagements at the individual soldier’s level. But unlike the force-multipliers of previous conflicts, modern snipers and their spotters are a highly trained, tightly specialized and integrated part of both tactical and strategic operations—registering kills at over 2,600 yards.

From this environment, the precision rifle community has seen advances in optics, ballistics, munitions and doctrine. Lessons learned have taken military, law enforcement and recreational shooters to new levels of proficiency. Magpul Dynamics brings one warrior of that battlefield, former Marine Scout Sniper Caylen Wojcik, and the lessons of those conflicts to today’s precision shooter.

Navy Seals 50th Salute

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Celebrating 50 years of service so that freedom and liberty reign supreme!

Tactical Weapons Group, founded by a NAVSOC vet, put together a 50th anniversary package durable enough for SEALs that includes the battle-ready FN SCAR 17, EOTech HWS, SOG Pup knife and more.

The concept that warfare tactics, methods and weapons change over time is a given. We see it today in the ways that America’s armed forces fight terrorists abroad. Looking back to 1962, when America’s presence in Vietnam was mostly at the advisory level, President Kennedy recognized the changing face of warfare and gave the thumbs up for the services to create their own special operation detachments. The Navy responded by commissioning two Sea Air Land Teams (SEALs). This year marks the SEALs’ 50th anniversary.

WWII-Korean War Roots

The SEALs take their roots from the Navy frogmen of World War II, marking the beginning of the modern-day Naval Commandos. Navy frogmen were trained in Ft. Pierce, Florida, in the early 1940s. Decades later, Congress designated this location as the official National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum.

SOPMOD accessories allow operators to modify the 7.62mm FN SCAR 17 for a successful mission in any environment. This TWG edition is officially SEAL sanctioned.

Because WWII had many different types of combat, the U.S. armed forces had to adapt. The U.S. Navy recognized the need for the covert reconnaissance of landing beaches and coastal defenses and commissioned “Scouts and Raiders,” an amphibious infiltration group, in October 1942. This group saw combat in November 1942 on the North African coast during Operation Torch, the first Allied landings in Europe. Scouts and Raiders also supported landings in Sicily, Salerno, Anzio, Normandy and southern France. Navy combat swimmers led the way, reconnoitering and clearing beaches full of obstacles, making it possible for Allied beach landings that proved critical to winning the war.

CMMG M4-LE 9mm

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Magpul-maximized carbine delivers tactical performance for survival on the street!

The author took the excellent 9mm M4-LE from CMMG and enhanced it to the next level with a full complement of Magpul gear. Perfect for LE requirements in any environment (left), the use of 9mm allows for ammunition compatibility when transitioning between carbine and handgun.

To ensure proper fit and flawless functioning, the 9mm M4-LE’s lower receiver features a dedicated “filled” mag well.

If you like to shoot, to actually press the trigger versus standing around talking, any time you can save money on ammunition is a good time. Question: Why are we talking about .223 and 9mm ammunition in the same paragraph? Answer: They are both cartridges chambered in modern Stoner-based carbines.

A straight blowback system of operation is employed, with a bolt carrier assembly featuring greater mass than that of a .223 AR.

There have been AR-carbines chambering the 9mm cartridge for better than 20 years now. I can recall the great fervor that surrounded the Colt CAR-15 in 9mm when it was first released. I was only 19 years old when my local gun shop received a 9mm CAR-15 and hung it up on the wall.

CQB Gun Control

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Keep your gun out of the wrong hands with these S.W.A.T. techniques!

When approaching the breach point of a structure, a S.W.A.T. operator’s primary concern must be encountering an armed subject (maybe more than one) who is willing to kill or be killed to further their cause. S.W.A.T. must be capable of immediately responding with deadly force to overcome this high-level threat. To better their odds, S.W.A.T. personnel are typically more highly trained, better protected (with superior body armor) and more heavily armed than the average patrol officer. This means operators usually carry a rifle or shotgun as their primary entry weapon. While this is obviously beneficial in a firefight, wielding a long gun in tight quarters could lead to an operator’s weapon being grabbed.

The first “P” in C.O.P.P. stands for push. Here, the operator pushes the muzzle into the subject. If the muzzle actually strikes the subject, that’s even better. The final “P” stands for pulling back the rifle.

Imagine negotiating the corner of a building only to have a crazed suspect grab hold of your rifle with both hands. As you’re contemplating your next move, the suspect is trying to rip the rifle from your grasp. You consider shooting the subject, but since you’re unable to control the direction of the muzzle during the deadly tug of war, you know squeezing the trigger is not an option. If you’re not able to quickly and fully extract your weapon from the bad guy, you risk being disarmed, knocked to the ground and delaying the clearing of the structure. At times like this, you need a reliable default response to retain your weapon.

The Close-Quarter Hold

In the basic S.W.A.T. school I attended, the close-quarter hold was the only technique taught for long gun retention. For many operators, weapon retention begins and ends with the close-quarter hold, which is a viable, albeit somewhat limited option.

The close-quarter hold can be used to redirect non-combatants, but it has limited value against a determined assailant.

Arctic S.W.A.T

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Last frontier lawmen protect 2,000 square miles of extreme country with cutting-edge weapons and tactics!

Members of the APD S.W.A.T. sniper team blend into their arctic surroundings with MARPAT overwhites. Knight’s Armament SR-25 MK 11 rifles are their main guns.

“APD, Channel One units, respond to an 11-5 in progress at 4501 Elmore Road. Complainant advises there is a bear charging their sliding glass door.”

That’s not an everyday call, but it’s not uncommon, either, when you’re a police officer in Anchorage, Alaska. I first saw Anchorage in March of 1978. I was a few years out of the Army and was trying to get hired as an Alaska State Trooper. I was blown away that the ice on the parking lot was still 2 inches thick, there was 2 feet of snow on the ground, and that it was 16 degrees. It was offset by the fact that I was in Alaska.

Anchorage officers are cross-trained to handle many duties. Strong community relations are a key tactic in helping to keep the peace.

Anchorage is policed by the Anchorage Police Department (APD). The Municipality of Anchorage is the largest in Alaska. The population of nearly 300,000 souls is almost half the population of the state, but 90 percent of the state’s residents use Anchorage as their transportation, shopping and recreation hub. Lots of rural residents come to town to see the lights, party a little too hard and need police services. Police calls are made more difficult when the temperature is -30, with a 10 mph wind blowing off the inlet. Summers are fairly short and intense; with 24 hours of daylight, Alaskans tend to ignore sleep, knowing they can catch up in December. It can result in long, hard workdays for the APD.

Anchorage S.W.A.T. practices mobile air operations with a Black Hawk helicopter, which they use to deploy to remote areas faster.

Since Anchorage is a “distance-isolated city in a distance-isolated state,” the APD relies on excellent police-community relations to accomplish the mission. There is constant demand for demonstrations from schools, youth groups and job fairs, and vehicles and K-9s are special hits with school kids. In order to maintain close public ties, the APD uses outreach teams, school resource officers and a citizen police academy to improve communication and cooperation; a volunteer Search Team helps find lost folks and search for evidence. The APD is also moving toward assigning officers to the same areas in an effort to form stronger community ties.

McMillan Tac-308 Precision Rifle

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Designed for the professional marksman to perform in the harshest of conditions!

When one thinks of precision tactical rifles, one of the first names that come to mind is McMillan. McMillan has established a well-deserved reputation for manufacturing some of the highest quality and most accurate rifles on the planet.

The TAC-308 came equipped with a McCann Industries forward rail system to offer even more “real estate” for accessories.

McMillan manufactures a complete line of rifles for sport shooters, competitive shooters and military or law enforcement marksmen. If a standard McMillan rifle doesn’t meet customer requirements, the company will build a rifle that does. All rifles include a McMillan custom pillar-bedded fiberglass stock, a match-grade stainless steel barrel and Remington type trigger, and are finished in DuraCoat, a durable wear-resistant polymer.

The McMillan TAC-308 Tactical Rifle uses their “top of the line” G30 action, built by the company to aerospace standards, with each action CNC-machined from a solid billet. The action material is 17-4 stainless steel, which is tougher and more corrosion resistant than the 4000-series alloy often encountered in firearms. The steel is hardened to 42-43 Rockwell C. The action face is absolutely perpendicular to the bolt axis. General tolerances are held to 0.005 of an inch, while critical components are machined to 0.0005 of an inch. The chamber and barrel threads are cut to critical tolerances and then hand-fitted.

All McMillan barrels are premium, hand-lapped, match-grade stainless steel, capable of delivering exceptional performance. A removable cap protects the rifle’s threaded muzzle (shown) that can accept a variety of suppressors or muzzle brakes.

Locked, Loaded & Ready

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Like the U.S. Navy SEALs who are trained and have been deployed in a wide variety of missions, including direct action and special recon, unconventional warfare, counter-terrorism, and other missions, TW has your back!

French statesman Duc de Richelieu (1766-1822) was once reviewing a proposed military campaign. When an officer placed a finger on a map with the remark, “We shall cross the river at this point,” Richelieu replied, “Excellent, sir, but your finger is not a bridge.”
Grand plans and big talk are one thing; For the grand plan to survive the first contact with an enemy depends on the total readiness of the forces involved. Give the Duke credit: Even in that distant time, he knew his forces would have to be mission ready—with weapons, tactics and combat psyche.

Today’s military and LE operators routinely must meet mission readiness requirements, of which no soldier from Richelieu’s time could have dreamed. How today’s professionals are doing exactly that is the theme of this special “Mission Ready” edition of TW.

Individual firepower is always an important subject in TW, and this issue covers the topic particularly well. For openers, consider our testfire report on the new Remington Semi-Automatic Sniper System made in partnership with JPE and AAC. Another sniper testfire covers the Steyr SSG08 now available in .338 Lapua Magnum.

Desert Warrior

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

This is the Real Desert Warrior from Kimber

And this is the one from Tokyo Marui

The sights looks almost the same but I was expecting white dots on it and there is none.

There is "Ops Tactical .45" marke don the left side instead of the Kimber logo.

Standard Hicapa 4.3 Outer barrel and recoil guide

Ambidextrous safety and hammer looks good too.

The under rail is detachable, the biggest diasppointment.

The grips looks really good, a big plus for Tokyo Marui.

Takedown is the same as Hicapa.

Overall, this is still Tokyo Marui and you get good value for your money. The big disappointment to me was they made it Hicapa based instead of 1911 based.

Gangland’s Finest

California’s Special Service Unit takes on the most violent-offender cases in and out of the U.S. prison system.

Tasked with tracking down prison escapees, fugitives and parolees, SSU agents must be prepared to operate in any tactical environment to apprehend these repeat offenders. Veritas Officium Aequitas—SSU’s unofficial motto of Truth, Duty, Justice—sums up their past, present and future role as CDCR’s investigative bureau.

Although the CDCR (California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation) may be the primary recruiting ground for the elite SSU (Special Service Unit), its members are neither detention specialists nor parole officers. The SSU is all about investigating and apprehending violent offenders, most of whom are graduates of the CDCR’s institutions and/or programs.

Solid training equates to safe and successful missions. With such a small number of SSU agents in California, the on-call SSU must remain vigilant and tactically proficient as individual operators and as a unit.

One of the biggest misconceptions, even among law enforcement, is that SSU is a highly specialized parole unit, which they are not. SSU serves as the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation ‘s investigative bureau. They are the police agency within the CDCR. CDCR is one of the largest agencies in California and navigating around that huge organization can be rather confusing to the outsider.

The SSU was formed at the request of the Governor of California, to establish a liaison between the CDCR and other law enforcement agencies. With a large percentage of the crime being committed by repeat offenders, SSU is the compass and liaison that bridges the gap between the world of corrections and law enforcement agencies, state and federal.

U.S. Ornance MK43 GPMG

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Next-gen M60 general-purpose machine gun—lighter and faster

The U.S. Ordnance MK43 represents 22 key improvements on the M60 base model, cutting redundant parts and creating a lighter, more accurate machine gun that can produce a superior volume of fire downrange.

When most think of a machine gun, they picture a weapon supported by a bipod or fixed mount being fired by one man as others pass ammunition. The U.S. Ordnance MK43 Mod 1, a 7.62×51mm General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), changes this view by giving soldiers a fully automatic belt-fed weapon designed specifically to be shouldered and fired from off-hand, kneeling and prone positions by a lone shooter. The MK43 represents the latest improvement to the M60 series of machine guns to which it belongs.

First introduced in 1957, the M60 has seen service with every branch of the U.S. military, and remains in their arsenals over 50 years later. Since the late-1970s, however, its dominance has steadily declined as the M240 was phased in as a more reliable and easier to maintain weapon despite its higher cost and solider complaints about its heavier weight. U.S. Ordnance is looking to change this trend with the MK43, which maintains the familiar design of the M60 while addressing the negative issues of preceding models. A modified M60E4, all of the MK43’s major components are directly interchangeable with other M60 configurations, and older weapons can be converted to the updated design by an armorer within 30 minutes without any requirement for complex tools or machines.

M60 Reborn

Available in both ground and mounted configurations, the MK43 is a gas-operated, disintegrating link, belt-fed and air-cooled medium machine gun that fires from an open bolt. Weighing only 20.61 pounds with its long barrel, the weapon is lighter than its predecessors and its M240B competition, and has an associated smaller length, ranging between 37.7 inches to 42.4 inches overall depending on barrel selection. The weapon’s cyclic rate of fire is 500 rounds per minute with a muzzle velocity of 2,800 FPS. Its maximum range is 4,075 yards and its effective range is 1,200 yards.

Light and compact, the MK43 provides increased mobility and uniquely allows for accurate, controllable off-hand shooting.

Benelli M3T

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Irish Rangers, Czech 601st and French spec ops reach for the lightning-fast, dual-action 12 gauge!

Benelli’s M3T shotguns issued to special ops troops are distinguished by their folding stocks. With the stock folded up and locked into the rear notch sight, the gun is a true compact CQB powerhouse.

It’s easy to get the M3T on target quickly with the front sight, and its smooth action makes follow-up shots extremely fast.

Benellis tend to run lighter and faster, but recoil isn’t excessive. To chamber a round in semi-auto, simply pull the bolt back and release.

The M3T quickly converts between pump and semi modes by operating the selection lever in front of the forearm.

STK Ultimax 100 MK 8

At the Singapore Airshow last week, STK unveiled the Ultimax 100 MK 8. (photos above are MK3)

By all accounts the Ultimax 100 is a fantastic low recoil machine gun, but it was positioned in lonely space somewhere between automatic rifle and belt fed machine gun. It looks like STK is now aiming squarely at the automatic rifle market.

Savage M10 FLCP-K .308

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Highly specialized precision rifle with custom-style enhancements and accuracy!

Savage’s Model 10 FLCP-K in .308 is a left-hand precision rifle that offers LE users a sub-MOA rifle for less than $1,000. Shown equipped with a Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14×50mm ER/T scope and Versa-Pod bipod.

A first thought, the precision rifle market would seem to be a prime example of this reality, with high-end custom models built off of production rifles boasting sub-MOA accuracy can run easily into the thousands of dollars. So, to be able to reliably put lead on target in sub-MOA groups time after time, the bottom line is that you must purchase a multi-thousand dollar rifle that has been custom-tuned within an inch of its life, right? Wrong.

The left-handed action of the Model 10 FLCP-K features an oversized target-style bolt handle and is drilled and tapped.

Enter Savage Arms and its Law Enforcement Series of rifles. And a prime example of the specialized capabilities of these rifles is the Model 10 FLCP-K, a left-handed .308 bolt-action rifle with a suggested retail price of a mere $893. This platform, also available in .223, offers law enforcement officers a highly specialized precision rifle that won’t break even the most strained of today’s budgets.

The AccuTrigger is designed to be safe from accidental discharges through a sear-blocking trigger safety located in the center of the trigger.

The backbone of Savage Arms’ rifle line is actually a simple, arguably unattractive (although I find utilitarian to be beautiful) bolt-action rifle that the company has been producing in one form or another for about five decades. That rifle was the Model 110, designed by a former employee named Nicholas Brewer and one with a very novel approach to manufacturing. Specifically, it prized modular adaptability and ease of production over more subjective aesthetic concerns.

FNH FNP-45 .45ACP

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Rugged, reliable, accurate—it’s READY FOR DUTY!

When you’re in the field, simple is what you want in a sidearm. Sometimes you just have to react and pull the trigger — it’s that simple. For the better part of the 20th century, “simple” in terms of military sidearms was defined by the numerals 1-9-1-1. Over the last 100 years two schools of thought have emerged, actually two differences of opinion, one that favors the Colt Model 1911/1911A1 and its derivatives as an ideal large caliber sidearm, and one that doesn’t.

FNH USA’s FNP-45 Tactical is the perfect .45 ACP pistol for those who subscribe to the belief that a single-action semi-auto carried cocked and locked is not ideal. The line of demarcation is simply a choice. In 1985, our government made that choice and switched from the venerable Colt Model 1911A1 to the DA/SA Beretta M9 9mm. The .45 ACP was no longer the caliber of choice for a military sidearm. The choice that Fabrique Nationale brings to the table with the FNP-45 Tactical is that most favorite of options: a .45 ACP, DA/SA semi-automatic that can be safely decocked and carried with a chambered round. There are many handguns that offer this feature — some nearly as old as the Model 1911. Few, however, do it quite as well as the new FNP-45 Tactical.

Back to Batangas

Searching for the few remaining Filipino balisong craftsman!

Before the arrival of spring-assisted or fully automatic pocket knives, before manufacturers started putting holes in their blades and thumb studs, there was the original one-handed opening knife. The Balisong is a folding pocket knife with two handles counter-rotating around the tang. When closed, the blade is concealed within grooves in the handles. This is loosely known as a butterfly knife.

The Filipino Balisong knife was spread around the world by American soldiers returning from World War II. Translated from Tagalog, the word “Balisong” means “broken horn,” as the original Balisongs were made from.

A town in Batangas, known as Barrio Balisong, is where legend Perfecto de Leon is credited with developing and manufacturing the first Filipino version of the Balisong knife in 1905. Since then, the Balisong has become perhaps the most infamous Filipino weapon to date. Locals in the Philippines are much more likely to carry knives than guns. Knives are commonly carried as tools by farmers and used by street vendors to prepare coconuts, pineapples, other fruits and meats. This has led to the Philippines being known as a ‘blade culture,” so much to the point that the neighboring country of Palau has a term for Filipinos: chad ra oles, which literally means “people of the knife.”

Three Batangas Balisongs from Ona’s shop. All handcrafted from 5160 spring steel and using various materials for the handle scales ranging from Kamagong wood to horse and deer bone.

This is the model AP2 made by Armand Palacio. Like the AP1, it is also made from D2 steel and features titanium handles with a very unique pattern cut into the handles, yet another stamp of Armand’s distinct style.

At the shop, Ona displays his lightning fast speed as the author’s camera struggled to capture it. He is known for his two-handed deployment of the Balisongs simultaneously. In the background hanging, many other tools can be seen that are both for sale and collectables including US bayonets and machetes.

215Gear Operator’s Hat

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

215Gear came out with their Bended Operators Hat, which has mesh side panels for ventilation, I thought "It'd be great if they made an ALL-mesh hat" and suggested that back in December '08 in the Blended Operators hat writeup above. Well, they've finally come out with one. It's called the Operators Hat, ELW (Extremely Light Weight) and promises to be most breathable tactical hat yet.

The ELW is made in the U.S.A. and is a six-panel unstructured ball cap that has all the standard features seen on tactical hats with one major difference: it's made completely of light weight mesh instead of fabric. The Blended Operators hat has two side mesh panels for extra ventilation in hot weather, and it's been pretty much all I use in the summer. With the ELW made completely out of mesh, I expect it to be even more airy. The ELW was designed with maximum breathability and lightweight in mind. The mesh fabric is soft, light weight, yet sturdy feeling. It weighs only 2-1/2 oz and is currently only available in coyote.

Like the Blended Operators hat, there are 3" x 2" loop velcro patches for flags etc. on the front and back of the hat, with a 1.5" x 1.5" square on top for an IR patch, instead of a button. Adjustment is via the rear velcro closure, which is embroidered with '215 Gear'. A difference between the ELW and the Blended Operators hat is that the underside of the ELW bill/brim is not lined with black velcro-compatible fabric; it's left as mesh.
