Badger Ordnance M7 Scout Light Mount

The M7 Flashlight Mount from Badger Ordnance is an offset scout mount that also incorporates a mounting point for a QD push button sling swivel. It's well made and designed, which is what we've come to expect from Badger Ordnance.
I'm glad to see yet another offset scout flashlight mount offered to the market. After a number of years of no offset mounts for Surefire's M600 and newer M300 Scout lights, we're finally getting some more choices. Placed at the 10:30 or 1:30 position, it's easier to activate a push button switch with the thumb, when using the 'thumb forward' support grip.
Description - The M7 Scout flashlight mount is designed to work with the Surefire M300 and M600 (shown here) series of flashlights, as well as provide a rotation-limited QD sling swivel mounting point. The M7 mount is designed specifically to work with laser aiming devices such as the ATPIAL/DBAL and all other issued aiming lasers by providing the necessary clearance for the beams to operate without interference from the flashlight or user's hand. It is made of mil-spec hard anodized 7075 aluminum in black only, and weighs 1.27 oz.
The M7 mount differs from other offset scout mounts by the lack of an angled mounting surface for the light. Most offset scout mounts have an angled platform extending from the base, that the flashlight bolts to. On the M7, the flashlight is bolted directly to a horizontal platform on the base and secured with two T-15 torx screws. While this increases the width of the base over other mounts, it doesn't extend any further to the side of the rail than the light body. The lack of an angled platform means that there is nothing between the light and the top rail, and there is now more clearance for rail mounted front sights. Some offset mounts cannot be mounted to the side rail right beside a rail mounted front sight as they conflict with the front sight base, but this less of an issue with the M7. As long as the sight clears the flashlight body, it's good to go.
Incorporated into the base is a rotation limited QD push button sling swivel mounting point. The QD swivel can be installed in four orientations and the rotation is limited to about 40° in each orientation, which prevents the sling from twisting. The base has a clamp that allows the mount to be 'rocked on' to the rail - it doesn't have to be slid on. A single recoil lug prevents any fore-aft movement once it's secured with the single T-15 torx screw.
I found the tailswitch to be located in just the right spot, and all I have to do is move my thumb to activate it. While I don't use a forward sling mount location, there are lots of folks who do, and will appreciate having the convenience of an integrated QD swivel mount right in their light mount.

Battlecomp Compensators

BattleComp Enterprises, LLC, is a relatively newcomer to the industry, yet in the short time they've been around, they've made quite an impact with their line of compensators. Shown here are their 1.0 and 1.5 comps.
The market for compensators is competitive, and full of options for the customer. Muzzle devices that either reduce flash, recoil or muzzle jump have been around as far as I can remember. Repeating what I wrote in other writeups: flash hiders reduce flash signature while compensators or brakes either aim to reduce felt recoil or muzzle jump/movement. The idea is to keep the muzzle as neutral as possible when shooting, so that any movement seen by the shooter is due to his own input. Less movement means quicker follow-up shots, or less need to adjust one's position after firing a shot. The 5.56mm round doesn't have much recoil to begin with, and a solid stance and hold are the biggest factors to controlling the weapon, and these should be learned before a comp is used. However, you don't always have the chance to be in that 'perfect' stance; like when you're shooting on the move, assymetrical or awkward shooting positions etc. For those who can't shoot well in any situation, a comp probably isn't going to help much. But for those who can take advantage of the benefits a comp has to offer, it can make a difference.
The BattleComps are designed to provide a balance between muzzle control and the excessive concussion and blast that normally accompanies muzzle brakes, without increasing the flash over a standard A2.
Description - Shown here are the BCE 1.0 and 1.5. The 1.0 was the first comp offered by BattleComp. The 1.5 is an extended version of the 1.0, designed for permanent attachment on 14.5" barrels, bringing the overall barrel length to 16.1". Both are made from 17-4PH heat treated stainless steel bar stock and are available in a black oxide or matte stainless finish. They're standardd 1/2 x 28 RH threads.
There's also the BCE 2.0 (not shown here), which has the same external length and outer diameter as an A2 compensator, so that it's compatible with suppressors that mount to an A2, like the Gemtech HALO. The 1.0 and 1.5 outer diameter is slightly less than an A2, and suppressors which require an A2 mount will be too loose on them. An A2 has an outer diameter of about 0.860"-0.862", and the 1.0 and 1.5 measure around 0.850". I measured the overall lengths of the BCE 1.0 at 1.756" and the BCE 1.5 at 2.150".
The 1.0 has rows of slots/ports around the body, which alternate between two and three ports per row. There are 15 rows, and 38 ports total. The bottom quadrant of the body has no ports (where the logo is laser engraved). The muzzle of the 1.0 is concave, and has four round ports drilled into it. The 1.5 body extends beyond the muzzle (which is also concave), creating a 'stand off hood' extension with 8 more ports in it. There are four subtle crenellations on the hood leading edge. The 'ports' at the muzzle level on the 1.5 are false; they don't go through, but they're there for visual/aesthetic continuity, which is a nice touch. The 1.5 is also pre-drilled for a pin, at the bottom, for permanent attachment to a barrel that requires pinning and welding. Both comps come with crush washers for installation. Testing has shown the 1.0 and 1.5 to have identical performance.

This year was the 125th Anniversary of the Statue of Liberty and the 25th Anniversary of Glock USA. Gaston Glock commissioned this beautifully engraved Glock 22 pistol for his personal collection to commemorate both anniversaries.
The "Statue of Liberty" gun is the premier item being auctioned during the annual SHOT Show auction. In addition to the pistol, the winner gets an original 11" x 15" blueprint of the original Glock 17 and a two day hunting trip with R. Lee "The Gunny" Ermey, Glock's spokesperson.

A NY-based Chinese-national artist recently created an impressive daylight pyrotechnic display using 8,000 anti-missile countermeasure shells.

It seems like an easy way to send money up in smoke. But a fireworks exhibit that took place in broad daylight in Doha, Qatar has impressed art lovers. Black Ceremony is the work of Cai Guo-Qiang, a Chinese national based in New York City and the world’s foremost gunpowder artist.
It kicked off his new exhibit at the Arab Museum of Modern Art in the Qatari capital.
And while a daytime fireworks display may seem an odd choice, the use of pastel-coloured and black smoke made it a stand-out performance.
Cai, who dazzled millions with his fireworks display at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics, collaborated with the Grucci family, behind the 4th of July firework in New York City, for the project.
The cost hasn’t been revealed, but it was covered by the Qatar Museam Authority.
And as the fastest growing economy in the world with a GDP per capita of around $101,000, spending money on a daytime fireworks exhibit was no gamble for Qatar.
Mayassa Bint Hamad al Thani, from the museum, said: ‘I thought it was spectacular. We were just talking about a second series of gunpowder so for those who missed it there will be another opportunity.’

The MK12 MOD1 SPR (Special Purpose Rifle) was originally conceived by USSOCOM as part of its SOPMOD (Special Operations Peculiar Modification) program, and is a heavily modified light sniper variation of the AR-15/M16 range line of weapons.
SPR originally stood for Special Purpose Receiver, but it was changed to Special Purpose Rifle as it became a stand-alone weapons system instead of simply an add-on upper receiver assembly. The SPR was eventually type classified by USSOCOM as the MK12, and adopted by the US Navy Seals in 2002. Tokyo Marui Next Generation Version of the SCAR-H Mk17 Mod0. Model specification of SCAR bullet 7.62mm × 51.
Barrel length can be switched from 16 inches to 13 inches. Total length of about 965.2-901.7mm, folded stock length is about 711.2mm. Weight of 3,630 grams, length of inner barrel is 300mm. A folding six-stage telescopic stock, two-stage cheek-rest.

The HS2000 (Hrvatski Samokres (Croatian Pistol)), or XD (X-treme Duty) are a series of semi-automatic pistol that are polymer-framed and striker-fired. Manufactured in the city of Karlovac, Croatia by HS Produkt (formerly I.M. Metal), theSpringfield Armory XD is the marketing name for the weapon, which is licensed and sold in the US by Springfield Armory, Inc.[2]
The HS2000 traces its roots back to a service pistol known as the PHP (Prvi Hrvatski Pištolj or First Croatian Pistol), which was first produced in Croatia by privately owned industrial parts firm I. M. Metal in 1991.[3] Designed by a team led by Marko Vuković, the PHP was considered to be a solid design, but early versions were plagued by quality issues, due in large part to the difficulties of manufacturing during the Croatian War of Independence.[4] Vuković's team continued to tweak and improve the design over the next decade, releasing the HS95 (Hrvatski Samokres or Croatian Pistol) in 1995, and the HS2000 in 1999.
The HS2000 was adopted by the Croatian military and law enforcement as a standard issue sidearm and continues to fill that role today.[citation needed] The pistol was initially exported to the US market by Intrac and distributed by HSAmerica who sold the pistol in 9 mm as the HS2000.[5]
In 2002, Springfield Armory, Inc. negotiated licensing rights to the US market, and changed the name to the XD-9 (X-treme Duty 9x19mm Parabellum). Springfield Armory has since expanded the line to include seven models in three different calibers and five different cartridges, four barrel lengths, and four finishes (black, bi-tone, olive drab frame, and the newest dark earth frame). In 2006, the industry press awarded the XD-45 the title ofHandgun of the Year from both American Rifleman magazine and The Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence.[6] TheXD(M) series of pistols won Handgun of the Year again in 2009.[7]

Flashpoint Gloves - The Flashpoint Glove is a light weight Nomex® fabric and FR leather glove intended for breathability in hot conditions while providing FR protection, dexterity and comfort.
The Flashpoint glove is a short cuff design, with a leather tab embossed with the OR logo with velcro closure for a secure fit. On the inside of the wrist is a pull-on loop, which doubles as an attachment loop for hanging the gloves off a jacket, pack or rig. The Flashpoint is of hybrid construction, using both Nomex® fabric and FR leather. The palm is mainly leather, with additional leather reinforcements on the palm and heel of the hand. Note that there is no foam or padding - the reinforcements are just an addeditional layer of leather. The Flashpoint comes in coyote, and both the leather and Nomex® fabric are darker than those used on other OR gloves like the Overlords or Crossbow, which use Massif Wolverine Nomex. The photos on the OR Gear website aren't an accurate representation of the colour - the photos are probably of the prototype, instead of the production model. One of the listed features on the website is a 'sweat wipe on thumb', and the photo shows what looks like terry cloth material on the back of the thumb. Mine does not have this feature - it's Nomex® fabric on the back of the thumb.
The fingers have leather reinforcements at the finger tips and outer sidewalls for protection and abrasion resistance, while the Nomex® fabric inner sidewalls maintain dexterity, a snug fit and breathability. The fingers are pre-curved, with boxed construction for an anatomically correct fit. Leather strips on the back extend from the finger tips to the back of the hand, providing additional protection for the hand and knuckles.
The leather used on the Flashpoint is the grippiest thus far on an OR Gear glove, for some reason. It doesn't have any embossed texturing or anything, but it's just more tacky feeling. My standard 'picking up a coin off a flat surface' test is performed easily with the Flashpoint - no problems picking up a dime off a table. I've worn the Flashpoint gloves for about four range sessions at the time of this writing - one of them was for a two-day AK class. They performed well; and were comfortable in the summer heat. While they aren't the tightest fitting or thinnest gloves I have, they provide good tactility and feel, and the tackiness of the leather gave me good purchase on whatever I was grabbing. The Flashpoint gloves are imported, instead of made in the U.S. like the Crossbow and Overlord gloves. Quality seems pretty good, with the U.S. made gloves having the slight edge, but it's reflected in the price - the Flashpoint gloves are less than half the price of the Overlords, making them more affordable to a wider customer base.
