McMILLAN M3A 7.62mm

M14 modernized to handle any threat — at close range or at a distance!

The McMillan stock and Troy M14 Modular Battle Rail sporting a Nightforce 2.5-10×24 scope transform the M1A Squad Scout into a modern rifle ready for use against threats hiding behind barriers or at ranges beyond those where the AR-15 is effective.

Some shooters have a spiritual attachment to the M14, the battle rifle that followed the M1 Garand and had a short-lived run as the U.S. infantry’s small arm. It was replaced by the M16 to the dismay of many and the delight of others, but even some of those who eschewed the M14 and its 7.62mm round have now recognized their value because of the battle needs in Afghanistan, where killing power at longer distances is often needed to defeat the enemy. Consequently, the military has dusted off many old armory M14s and pressed them into service once again.

Often law enforcement is influenced by small arms trends in the military and it would not be surprising to see certain agencies express interest in fielding the M14 or the civilian equivalent M1A for special applications. The threat of a terrorist attack is ever-present and could involve targets hiding behind barriers or at longer ranges where the power and reach of the 7.62mm cartridge has an advantage over the M16’s smaller 5.56mm round. In those cases, a weapon that has more power to penetrate vehicles or cover, is effective at 800 yards or more, can fire semi-automatic and handles well in enclosed areas under close combat conditions could be a very valuable addition to the law enforcement arsenal.

The McMillan M3A was equipped with a Nightforce NXS 2.5-10×24mm scope, but the rail will accept about any aiming device. Note that the rail eliminates the rear aperture sight that is standard on M1As.

There is no doubt that the M14 is dated, at least in its ability to serve as a platform for accessories such as optics, laser aiming devices and illumination tools. There just isn’t any place to mount them. When the receiver was designed so many years ago, the average infantryman for whom the gun was created used iron sights, and no consideration was given to supplying him with an optic. Such devices were reserved for snipers, who of course used bolt actions. Therefore, little or no thought was given to building a receiver that could readily accept a scope.

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Black Hawk Down fans out there. Here is a simple DIY guide on how to convert your Tokyo Marui Sopmod/CQB-R to M16A3

Note: During the conversion you will need some tools and basic machining skills, if you don't have a lathe and milling machine a dremmel tool and alike will also do the job.

Base gun-Tokyo Marui Next Generation M4A1 CQB-R.

Step 1: Remove the butt stock, remove buffer tube out from the frame.

*It looks like this when all the small bits, wire and tube cap are removed.

Step 2: Remove this part. (see image to follow)

*It looks like this after machining.

Step 3: Reduce buffer tube thread from 19mm+- to 12mm+-

*It should look like this after machining.

Step 4: Grab any AEG m16 fixed butt stock and remove all the screw and butt plate

Step 5: Use A chisel to remove this tube pipe stopper (see image to follow)

*Stopper is removed out from the shell

Step 6: Use a dremel to remove these parts ( with red marks)

*It looks like this after removing.

Step 7: Insert the buffer tube to the stock, use a dremel to make a 3.30mm gap/space this is where the steel ring going to sit in. (see image to follow, do it carefully)

Step 8: Remove these two sides. Do not remove the center part this will lock on the lower frame. It should be snug fit to the lower frame. do it carefuly (see image to follow)

*It looks like this after removing the two sides.

Step 9: Cut this steel plate, use a milling machine or metal grinder (see image to follow)

*it should look like this after

* This time you will need to replace the Tokyo Marui tube cap to ARS
CNC hard metal tube cap. This tube cap has a 5mm thread and you need a 5mm x 100mm long lock screw.

Step 10: Reinstall the buffer tube, steel ring , recoil unit, recoil spring, ARS tube cap, wire, mosfet, butt plate and lastly lock it with the long screw.

*It looks like this after

Step 11: For m16 front assembly, change the TM stock 10.5 inches outer barrel to Echigoya CNC one piece hard Steel 20 inches outer barrel

Put everything back and you're Done!!! M16A3 Black Hawk Down look alike!

Sig Compact Combat .45

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Sig Sauer celebrates John Browning’s 1911 hitting the century mark with its “traditional” duty-ready sidearm.

The Sig Sauer Traditional Compact .45 features the right combination of solid tradition and innovation in a combative application handgun.

Sig Sauer has introduced a series of 1911 pistols that they call traditional, and from what I can see, Sig understands the concept. Except for being made from stainless steel (some upgrades are worthwhile!) Sig has worked hard to deliver a Series 70 pistol (no plunger safety) that even the most hardcore fan of John Browning’s masterpiece could enjoy. I chose to review their Compact model as I think it is a nice compromise between a carry/duty pistol and a gun to be carried concealed. The Compact uses the short grip frame of the Officer’s Model and combines it with the short slide of a Commander, resulting in a gun that is “big enough but small enough” for most combative applications. The Compact would be right at home in the thigh holster of a S.W.A.T. cop or the concealed scabbard of a detective.

Perfect Hybrid

When it comes to features, Sig has made the Traditional Compact just right, in my humble opinion. The new Sig Sauer Traditional Series is made up of four models that feature the recognizable “round-top” 1911 slide profile, forward cocking serrations and a lightweight, three-hole adjustable trigger. Standard on all models are a match-grade barrel, flat-checkered mainspring housing and speed bump grip safety. This feature is more important than many realize. During the pandemonium and stress of armed conflict, a perfect grip is oftentimes lacking when deploying a fighting pistol. The high shoulder of the speed bump on the bottom of the grip safety helps keep the gun in the fight even if a perfect grip is not achieved. The front straps have 25LPI checking and the mainspring housing has 20LPI for optimum grip and user comfort. The 1911 Traditional Reverse Two-Tone is a full-size 1911 featuring a brushed stainless steel frame and a black Nitron-coated stainless slide. Black control levers, low profile SIGLITE night sights that are very Novak-like in configuration, and Hogue black Diamondwood checkered grips make this pistol a full-size gun worth having.

While the rear serrations can be used for chamber checking, the author does not like how the fingers get in each other’s way.

The 1911 Traditional Match Elite is the first Sig Sauer 1911 to be offered in a caliber other than .45 ACP. While some may think this distracts from the “traditional” theme, it would be wise to consider that Sig builds guns to make a profit and alternate calibers are necessary in a gun that is intended for the competition market. Besides, what could be more “traditionally American” than making a profit? Another full-size 1911, the Match Elite chambered in .45 ACP, is available as a two-tone with a matte stainless frame and a black Nitron-coated slide. The 9mm and .40S&W Match Elite models are also full-size guns, but feature a matte stainless slide and frame, matte stainless controls and fully adjustable target sights. The Match Elites come equipped with Hogue custom wood checkered grips, which offer a solid hold even in inclement weather.
