The Daniel Defense 1 O’clock Offset Rail is optimized for mounting miniature red dot optics in the 1 O’clock (right-hand) or 11 O’clock (left-hand) positions for quick, non-magnified, transitions when employing magnified primary optics on AR-type rifles with MIL-STD-1913 rails. A week before Christmas, tropical storm Washi (Philippine Code: Sendong) caused massive floods in Mindanao, leaving over a thousand dead and thousands more homeless. The staff of NYCAirsoft quickly organized a fund-raising event for the Philippine Red Cross, to be held the Monday after Christmas. There was less than a week to organize an event and the timing was awkwardly close to the Christmas weekend, but given the emergency, speed was of the essence.



Recognition goes to all the players who sent donations to the Red Cross, many of whom were unable to attend the event. Thanks to Strike Force Sports for accommodating the event at their training center and CQB arena. And thanks to Evike.com for donating the prizes for the target competition.

The event was in three stages: A pistol target course, a 1-hr private CQB session, and a rifle target course. The scoring was based on the time to hit all 12 "steel" targets modified by the placement of hits on two paper targets. The course would be run a first time with pistols and a second time using rifles/SMGs with the combined times for the final scores.

Mossie Tactics has developed their new MT 2400 Light mount in a partnership with Battle Comp Enterprises. Battle Comp already has a distribution system, dealers, and a heavy production capacity, so this pairing up makes sense. Combine it with a product which is so straightforward that I’m wondering why I didn’t think of it first, and it looks like they’ve got a winner.






We first got our hands on a prototype a few weeks ago, but the early production model arrived today. The piece is straightforward in how it mounts. By sliding the grooved portion onto the front sight base, the MT 2400 Light Mount snugs into place. The next step is to tighten the lower screw, then the upper screw, and you are done. If you find the mount tips up or down, adjust your screws accordingly.



The application for the MT 2400 Light Mount is that of a railed extension in the 12 o’clock position. It allows a Surefire X300 or similar light to be mounted, while still retaining functionality of the mechanical and electronic sights. Pushing a light farther forward eliminates shadowing from the barrel, and that is always a good thing. The 12 o’clock mounting position with the light means the rocker switches for the little lights can be activated with either hand, and there is less of an issue when shooting around barricades or corners.

Made in the USA from 6061 aluminum, this has a MSRP of $79, which isn’t cheap, but it is a lot less money and weight than a long rail for your weapon.

Tried to remove the rail by removing these two screws but it seems the rail is glued to the receiver




Test fire showed the sight to be very low (5m). First six shots are really low (in red) but very good groupings, within 2 inches. I adjusted my sights but still low (in green).

Overall Impression

I would say this gun would be a very valuable addition to your collection, if you are a biohazard fan. But if you are just plain airsoft gamer, then I would not recommend this to be use for skirmishes. The finish and overall appearance really look so good to be used in the field. This should go in your display case.

The sights alooks almost the same but I was expecting white dots on it and there is none.


There is "Ops Tactical .45" marke don the left side instead of the Kimber logo.


Standard Hicapa 4.3 Outer barrel and recoil guide


Ambidextrous safety and hammer looks good too.


The under rail is detachable, the biggest diasppointment.


The grips looks really good, a big plus for Tokyo Marui.


Takedown is the same as Hicapa.


Overall, this is still Tokyo Marui and you get good value for your money. The big disappointment to me was they made it Hicapa based instead of 1911 based.

Following is the step by step process on how we convert a real PMAG magazine to fit into an airsoft AEG specifically the recoil shock series. By using the internals of a Tokyo Marui magazine and months of trial and error we were able to accomplish the task… Mission Impossible? Not in our shop!

Remove the bottom cap


Then you can discard the spring and the round follower, but keep these three parts, you will need them later on.


Mark where you will make the trims, good thing about the magpul there is a line that will help guide you. You will make the cuts a few mm above this line. Also take note where the trim will make and make a higher trim on it as shown where the masking tapes are.

To look like this (as shown already fitted with the TM internals)


Using a dremmel, try to flatten out the foremost part of internal ribs on the mag as shown (include the internal sides)



Now we go the TM Magazine internals

We need to turn it as shown below, from the right to the left. Using a vertical machine and a dremmel.


Trim the flaps as shown below (from the left to look like on the right


Trim the underside of the lip


To become like this


As shown fitted in the mag



Now trim the back part



Remove this protruding part (also on the front side - no pic)


Use a dremmel to trim the corners on this side (shown by the 2nd arrow) and also on the bottom. The purpose of this is to take the shape of the polygonal shape of the Pmag.


Now trim the bottom plate of the mag about 3-5 mm (this will depend on the fitting of the internals when you insert it)


Now start assembling everything.

From here, it will now be a trial and error fitting and testing.

This tutorial was made by our professional engineers and we will be not be responsible for damage to your equipement if you follow this tutorial.

From a financial point of view, Magpul has had an exceptional year. They got a $13 million dollar injection of cash from TCAP. Hardly a week goes by without a gun company announcing that they are introducing a new AR-15 model that comes from the factory with Magpul accessories. On the other hand, they launched no revolutionary new products and two key employees left the company.

Lets take a look at what new products Magpul introduced this year ...
January '11 - The SHOT Show announcement: iPhone case updated for iPhone 4.
February '11 - MOE handguard now available in rifle length.
March '11 - Shipping 5 and 10 round limiters. Introduced instead of the promised PMAG 5/10/15 round magazines.
March '11 - Magpul MBUS 2. The biggest new product of the year. Slimmer profile than 1st generation.

While the new MBUS launch was high profile, backup sights being a very important rifle accessory, I believe the MOE+ handguard represents the biggest new innovation at Magpul. They now have the ability to produce accessories with rubber overmolding and I expect to see a lot more accessories with rubber overmolding next year.

What Magpul did not introduce this year is probably more telling than what was introduced. The PMAG 40 was announced in the 2011 catalog but never produced. This product would have been incredibly popular. When I speculated that the product was dead, the Magpul CEO made it clear it was not and they would be introducing it in the future. I hope the PMAG40 does not become vaporware.

Also announced but not produced were the 5 round, 10 round and 15 round PMAGs. They did introduce 5 and 10 round limiters, but in some jurisdictions round limiters do not make a full-sized magazine legal for hunting. For a company that takes pride in the fact that they never disclose future products, not producing products that made it into the annual catalog is no small thing.

Surefire beat Magpul to the market wit their quad-stack 60 and 100 round AR-15 magazines. Earlier this week Magpul's patent application for a Quad-stack magazine was approved by the USTPO. Magpul's policy is that no employees are allowed to discuss the Quad-Stack magazine. I know this because I have asked a few of them for a comment.


Chris Costa

At the beginning of the year Travis Haley, Magpul Dynamics CEO former-interim CEO of Magpul industries, left the company to form a consulting firm called Haley Strategic Partners. Last month Chris Costa, President of Magpul Dynamics, announced that he was leaving the company. It will be interesting to see how Magpul Dynamics fares without the brand-recognition that Haley and Costa had. In the blogosphere, a popular blogger usually takes his audience with him when he or she moves to another blog. I suspect the fans of Haley and Costa will follow them, regardless of the company they work for.

This year was certainly interesting, but were the new products announced exciting or lackluster? I was disappointed that there was not more innovation for their consumer customers. The new H&K G36 PMAG is not aimed at US consumers, but at military and LE users of the H&K G36.

What are my predictions for Magpul in 2012? I suspect the quad-magazine will be announced, as will the PMAG40. These products will be big sellers. If the PMAG60 or PMAG100 can be made to work with the M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle, Magpul could make a lot of money by nabbing a contract with the USMC. As I said before, I predict a few more products which have rubber overmolding. 2012 is going to be an interesting year.

My way out there prediction is this: Magpul will introduce a 1911 accessory in 2012!

The M82 is a recoil-operated, semi-automatic anti-materiel rifle developed by the American Barrett Firearms Manufacturing company. A heavy SASR (Special Application Scoped Rifle), it is used by many units and armies around the world. It is also called the "Light Fifty" for its .50 caliber BMG (12.7 mm) chambering. The weapon is found in two variants—the original M82A1 (and A3) and the bullpup M82A2. The M82A2 is no longer manufactured, though the XM500 can be seen as its successor.



The first replica of high-caliber Barrett M82 rifle. The model is constructed of steel and metal, only the pistol grip is made of plastic. The body of the replica is made steel sheet (this represents approximately 730 mm piece of a single item!). Steel is also a multi-position folding bipod. Outer barrel with a reducer (brake) of the recoil is made of metal. Inside replica is inner barrel with length of 590 mm. Magazine holds 20 bbs, which are fed into the chamber by pulling the bolt arrangement in 4 tacts(like most sniper rifles). On the back of the body is RIS rail with a length of 310 mm, allows for mounting additional accessories.

Internal mechanism, as provided by the manufacturer, is fully compatible with the system of APS-2. Adjustable hop-up is inside the magazine slot.

The Afghan Special Forces now do use the Ghostex Kilo-1 Pattern. According to Soldier Systems, this is because the US Government stipulated that this pattern must have similar coloration but it has to be distinctively different from the OCP Pattern that the US soldiers are using. The reason for this is that both forces can work together but would not be mistaken for one another.

You bought a gun and you found out it is over the legal limit, what would you do? One option is to buy a replacement spring or just cut the original spring by yourself.

Here is a guide on how to properly cut a spring without damaging your spring guide.

Check how much you want to remove, I suggest one coil at a time.


Using a cutter, cut your desired length


Showing the cut portion


Use this torch, or you can use one of those camping lighters with the blue torch


Using a pliers, hold the end of the spring together to flatten it and use the torch to heat it to shape.

Now use a grinder (or you can use a sandpaper)



Finish!


Repeat the whole process if it is still over the legal limit.
