Mk12 Navy Seal Steel

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Centurion Arms’ battle-built and proven special purpose 5.56mm tack driver—a designated marksman’s dream machine!

Long-range peacekeeper! The sniper depicted here is fielding the exact rifle, uniform and support gear used by U.S. Navy SEAL’s on frontline duty in Iraq.

In today’s battlefield and on the streets of urban America, the role and type of traditional sniper rifles has changed drastically over the last several years. Whereas bolt-action 7.62×51 sniper systems dominated before, in today’s fast-paced engagements with a different type of enemy, the platform of the sniper rifle has taken two paths. Long-range precision sniper rifles have become large, specialized systems that are chambered in cartridges like .338 Lapua Magnum, or .50 BMG. To fill the role of providing highly accurate fire in shorter-range combat environments, the precision 5.56mm AR-15/M16 based system is becoming a dominant force in the hands of designated marksmen, an indigenous member of the small infantry unit. Considerations of collateral damage as well have shown a greater need for pinpoint accuracy, with a less-powerful round, at closer engagement ranges.

The 5.56mm precision rifle used by special operations snipers in both Iraq and Afghanistan is the MK 12 Mod 1 Special Purpose Rifle. It is a culmination of many years of development, and has proven a success in the field. The program itself grew out of developments at the Naval Special Warfare Center, Crane Division, for use by Navy SEALs. These guns are also in use by U.S. Army Special Operations soldiers. Limited numbers are reportedly in use within the USMC.

Centurion Arms’ MK 12K variant is geared towards law enforcement use. Its versatility allows for it to be re-configured from a sniper system to being suitable for entry work with an optics change to an Aimpoint Micro T1 optic from its normal magnified precision rifle optic.

The MK 12 system has several variations, but the heart of the system is that of an M16 with a free-floating 18-inch match barrel that utilizes the OPS Inc. suppressor and matching muzzle brake and alignment collar. They have been built at Crane with either fixed A1 or A2 stocks, and some have been field modified by being put on collapsible-stock lower receivers with SOPMOD stocks. They have utilized various mid-range variable scopes from Leupold, and the current NightForce 2.5-10X optic. The current rifles use a Knight’s Armament fore-end with backup sights and trigger. They are also fitted with Harris bipods. The Knights rail system allows for numerous laser, white light and night vision devices to be utilized.

The NightForce 2.5-10X scope is a near perfect optic for the MK 12 and how it is used in typical Sandbox deployments.

High Caliber’s MK18 Ultimate Fighter

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Go full-speed, low-drag at Tactical Response with HCS’ Mil-Spec SBR steel!

MK18 and MK12 uppers, and complete MK13 rifles. But a team that makes them to absolute Mil-Spec, based off their experience doing the same for our troops at the sharp tip of the spear, is worth a story.

Kevin O’Neill, one of the owners of High Caliber Sales, gave TW full access to their goodies and outlined their phil osophies and goals. Their products are solid, to Mil-Spec, and impressively built. Many troops return home and ask HCS to build them the very weapons that they trusted in combat.

HCS products are top drawer because they have an inside advantage: A.J. Brown, the other partner in HCS, recently retired after 22 years at Crane, and was part of the original design team for the weapons that HCS now makes. Brown first helped develop MK262 match ammunition before beginning development of the MK18, MK12 and MK13 rifles. The knowledge and experience he brings to HCS is not a skill set that can be learned as you go.

Crossroads Top Guns

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

With match-grade JP rifles, Las Cruces, NM S.W.A.T. excels in fighting drug-war crime and 3-Gun!

Unparalleled accuracy and flawless reliability in the 3-Gun competition world encouraged the LCPD to adopt the JP Rifles for law enforcement work. Las Cruces, New Mexico, is a small town with big city problems, but they’re no slouch when it comes to equipment. LCPD puts State and Federal grants as well as seizure money to good use.

Visiting Las Cruces, New Mexico, is like going back in time. The colorful city exudes all the rugged character of a Southwestern cowpoke ciudad of yesteryear. Nestled in the fertile Mesilla Valley between the towering Organ Mountains and Rio Grande River, it’s easy to imagine vaqueros riding down dusty streets past century-old homes. With a population of just 95,000 Las Cruces is a small city, but it experiences all the modern problems of larger metropolitan centers.

Often called the Crossroads City because it is bisected by Interstates 10 and 25, its geographic location creates interesting challenges for the Las Cruces Police Department. I recently sat down to chat with Lieutenant Mark Nunley. “Our issue is that because we are so close to the El Paso-Juarez border…the amount of narcotics that goes through the city causes issues with our interdiction units and traffic stops. The interstates make it quick and easy for people to get in and get out. Most of the stuff that comes through town is heading north or east, although we’re finding out that because of cartel problems in Tijuana we’re starting to see stuff go west again.”

LCPD S.W.A.T. used some hard-earned seizure money to equip team members with match-grade-accurate firepower from JP Rifles out of Hugo, Minnesota.

Nemesis Vanquish

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

From up-armored briefcase to DOA precision in 60 seconds or less!

For many years, the .308 Winchester has been a major cartridge of choice for snipers. Combined with the Vanquish, the .308 Win. improves your odds for precise, long-range hits.

Since the American Revolution, our military has used the marksman, a sniper in today’s terminology, to great effect on the battlefield. It may not have been considered gentlemanly at the time, especially by the neat phalanxes of Redcoats who complained about the rebels fighting from behind concealment and cover like Indians, but the results would override any objections. By the American Civil War, the marksman was entrenched in the tactics of warfare with his properties of stealth and long-range accuracy. Enemies were no longer safe even far from the frontlines. Over time, the mission of the sniper has basically stayed the same, aside from also being tasked as a scout or observer because of his forward deployment, but there have been changes in both his methods and equipment. The most notable changes have been made to the sniper’s main weapon, the rifle.

The Vanquish is a purpose-built rifle with all components tuned to provide the best function and accuracy. It may look stark, but it will bring out the best in the ammunition and the shooter.

The marksmen of the Revolution mainly used their personal firearms, most often hunting rifles, because they were more accurate than the military muskets of the day. Over the years, improvement to military arms has led to improvement in sporting arms and vice versa, to the point where the sniper’s rifle has usually been one of two types: either a sporting arm adapted to handle the rigors of the battlefield, or a military rifle modified to improve accuracy. Only towards the end of the 20th century did we see rifles that were purpose-built for use by the American sniper. I am not talking about the Remington 700s or the Winchester 70s, since these were sporting rifles at birth, but the larger .50-caliber rifles built by firms such as Barrett.

It is in this arena of modern weapons that Nemesis Arms has made a grand entrance with the manufacture of the Vanquish. The Vanquish is designed from the ground up as the ultimate mid-caliber weapon for the modern sniper.

The barrel is a slip-fit into the receiver and then held in place by a threaded nut. The spring-loaded plunger, seen below the threads, assures everything stays together.

Wilson Combat SBR Tactical 7.62×40 WT

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Wilson Combat’s SBR Tactical is extremely powerful yet easy to maneuver with in close quarters. Wilson’s proprietary 7.62×40 WT cartridge has just the right amount of knockdown power to pair with the SBR’s barrel. This is truly a versatile platform. Shown here with an Aimpoint CompM3.

New chamberings come and go all the time, and this has always been the nature of the business. Someone is always trying to improve on existing cartridges, platforms and systems. It is this innovation that makes the firearms industry as strong as it is.

One of the longest standing of these projects has been the short .30 caliber for the AR platform. Since the first time a U.S. soldier fought against the AK-47 and its 7.62×39mm cartridge, the industry has tried to make that round (or one like it) work in an AR. It is a project that continues to this day, resulting in cartridges like the 300 AAC Blackout, .300 Whisper and a few others. They are all an attempt to approximate the ballistics of the 7.62×39mm and function properly in an AR-type rifle. For most, that is as close to 2,400 feet per second (fps) as you can get with a 125-grain bullet. New powders, bullets and precise manufacturing have made this better with each passing year. But getting these cartridges to fire has never really been the issue—it has been getting them to work in magazines.

The Wilson Combat Whisper762 suppressor does little to affect the balance of the SBR Tactical—it’s lightweight, quiet, and reliable. During range tests, the suppressor showed no signs of shifting the point of impact. It provided minimal backpressure, never came loose, and maintained excellent sound suppression.

Take a close look at an AK-47 magazine. It curves almost immediately. Other than the lip of the magazine, about an inch or so, it is one continuous curve. This is necessary for the ammunition to feed properly past about ten rounds, given the cartridge diameter. You could make a straight magazine, of course, but it would be too long to be practical, and still presents its own set of issues. You need the curve in order to make it practical with a 30-round magazine—even for a 20- or 25-rounder. Without this curve, the rounds will bunch up in the middle and cause malfunctions. It is just one of those laws of physics that cannot be circumvented.

Wilson builds their SBR with their TTU (Tactical Trigger Unit), which provides operators with a clean two-stage trigger.

Sionics Weapon Systems SAR -15-QR10

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Designed by operators for operators with all the features that patrol officers need!

The Sionics SAR-15-QR10 offers true no-nonsense Mil-Spec quality at the right price for today’s law enforcement needs. It is shown equipped with an EOTech 553.A65TAN HWS and Atlas Precision BT10 bipod.

Sionics Weapon Systems is a fairly new AR rifle manufacturer that is committed to delivering the highest quality Mil-Spec no-nonsense guns at the lowest possible price. And judging by its SAR-15-QR10 rifle, I would say they have succeeded.

Sionics SAR-15-QR10 exhibited tight tolerances between the upper and lower receivers and an excellent finish.

The staff and management at Sionics is made up of former military and law enforcement personnel who know what it means to depend on your weapon system. Josh Ellis, the owner of Sionics, has worked closely with many police armorers to ensure that his rifle meets their needs. It has been extensively tested and approved by the Tucson Police Department as a patrol rifle. According to Ellis, Sionics rifles are being used by federal agents as well as being currently evaluated by several law enforcement agencies.

The SAR-15-QR10 sports an olive drab Magpul ACS carbine stock, MIAD pistol grip, MOE enlarged triggerguard, XTM rail panels, PMag and MBUS flip-up front and rear sights.

The SAR-15 is a direct gas impingement 5.56mm NATO semi-auto rifle exhibiting above standard quality. The fit and finish and attention to detail are equivalent to what one would expect from a custom gun shop and with some extras as well.

Springfield .45 Professional

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Fighting 1911 that overcame rigorous testing to become the FBI’s “go-to” tactical pistol!

Every feature of the Professional Model was specified in the RFP by the Bureau, and each submission for the original FBI contract was required to meet demanding endurance and accuracy requirements.

When the FBI adopted the Springfield Professional 1911 in 1998, new respect was bestowed on the old workhorse. The Professional is the result of a Request for Proposal (RFP) that was issued in 1995 in an effort to standardize the pistol for all of their regional SWAT operators. The RFP was extremely demanding and considered by some to be unreasonable. While half a dozen or so manufacturers and shops submitted guns, there would only be one winner. One of those vying for a chance at the contract was Dave Williams, Springfield’s Custom Shop Director.

Origins

At first glance, the Professional may not seem all that unique or different but, in 1998, it set the world on fire. After all, the country’s “premier law enforcement agency” had chosen a design that was some 90 years old. For those who are not familiar with this pistol, the Professional Model is a single-stack 1911 pistol that is built entirely in Springfield’s Custom Shop. The slide and frame start as semi-finished parts and the shop’s staff cut the rails, drill the pin holes and hand fit every part.

The Bureau specified Novak low-mount tritium sights, an extended ambidextrous safety, beavertail grip safety, magazine well, 20-lines-per-inch checkered frontstrap, and match-grade internal components. The proposal also called for Walter Birdsong’s Black- T finish and required the pistols to be shipped with five Wilson 47D 8-round magazines. On top of all this, the manufacturer was required to warranty the pistol for an astounding 50,000 rounds.

D&L Sports Perimeter Carbine 5.56mm

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Extremely high-precision downrange dominator with sniper rifle accuracy!

This U.S. Marine loved the D&L PPC and the SureFire 60-round mag shown here. He will soon deploy and wishes he could take both with him.

Quite alive and well, the old slogan “buyer beware” pertains to, well, everything we buy. A life-long, daily risk management drill, you ask? You bet, and firearms are certainly no exception. Take the AR-15 platform, but don’t try to count all the clones or you may hurt your eyes, as they can run the gamut of the good, bad and the ugly. Did you hear about the small quantity of aftermarket ARs last year that were equipped with bolts made in Turkey? Except for the bolts, the guns were fine. Sure, you can cut corners, but not at the corner of “bolt and carrier.” When you do, a big accident is waiting to happen.

Using four mounting bolts, D&L’s receiver scope base is extremely secure, as is its eight-bolt handguard and 60-screw 30mm scope rings.

Case in point, an accident occurred while in the hands of a police officer who was the (short-lived) proud owner of the new AR clone. Fortunately, God was at the range when all six lugs sheered off, allowing the bolt to blow rearward without rotating. The upper receiver was destroyed and all other upper parts, except the barrel, were ready for a dirt nap. The lower suffered no damage and, most importantly, the police officer suffered only a face speckled by tiny aluminum shards, with his glasses saving his eyes. Yes, you can get what you pay for, but sometimes it’s worth less than the asking price.

Even without its winter plumage, D&L’s Professional Perimeter Carbine would stand out in a crowd. Many of its features are unique to D&L Sports, including its aluminum stock, free-floating, ventilated handguard, and muzzle brake/flash suppressor. The scope tested with the rifle was a Leupold 3-9×42mm.

When compared with some, the AR-15-type rifle is a highly technical rifle; not only in design, but also in the mil-spec requirements assuring that it is made of the finest materials to the highest quality control. It isn’t rocket science, but it is vital to the operation and safety of rifle and operator.

Built to endure harsh usage, D&L’s aluminum AR buttstock comes with two waterproof storage tubes. They also make an adjustable length-of-pull version.

US Palm has developed quad stack magazines for the AK platform. They will first be available in 45 round and 30 round capacity. The advantage of the quad stack 30 rounder over a regular 30 rounder is that it is a lot shorter (you no longer need to use your magazine as a bipod).

FN Ballista

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Two years ago Remington jumped into the modular precision rifle platform with their MSR line, this year FN hit back hard with their Ballista rifle. Easily convertible from .338 Lapua, .300win mag, and .308. Swapping out calibers can be done under 1.5-2 minutes, and is done so by loosening 4 captive barrel screws, and uses a self-adjusting bolt for proper head-spacing. The gun utilizes a composite mix of aluminum, steel, and polymer stock, with folding stock (adjustable), and more rails then AMTRAK. Coming in around 17lbs this looks to be a strong competitor in the military precision platform market.

MTEK's Predator Facial Armor System

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

I go back today to write about the maxillofacial protection systems since we have been mentioning these in our previous feature stories. This time, I go over the different products that MTEK Weapons Systems developed. Called the Predator Facial Armor System, these come in three different configurations and these cover different tactical situations. Dr. Airsoft of Airsoft Medicine highly approves the protective features of the Predator Facial Armor System, though he readily points out some flaws in these such as hearing yourself loud or the inability to hear background noise to detect the OPFOR approaching.

Even with these flaws, the protective features of the Predator Facial Armor System would trump the flaws, especially in airsoft where safety is more paramount than actual tactical concerns. While there are no replicas of these for the airsoft market, these are affordable enough, and money is usually no object when spending on protective gear.

MTEK PREDATOR FAST G3A

Design for convoy operations. This model can also be used for checkpoint duties and room clearing/CQB operations. This model meets higher impact ballistic protection it is designe for close quarters. This cpme with the MWS Clear Blast Visor, 100D Cordura Cover, ACC Rail, and Team Wendy Zap pads.

MTEK PREDATOR FAST G3C

The problem with facial protective gear, especially at the mandible area, is that using the cheek piece of rifles would become is not very feasible, and thus, aiming properly does not happen with users resorting to special scope mounts to adjust their optics/sighting equipment at a higher or even unsual configurations to zeroin their rifles. Also, the bulk of the mandible protection raises the head, which means the shooter's profile is further exposed. The FAST G36C was designed for using cheek piece and it flexes allowing the operator to further press his/her face to the stock's cheek piece, lowering the shooting profile and achieving proper aiming just like without wearing a mandible protection. This comes with an ACC rail to mount to the helmet.

MTEK PREDATOR FAST T3C

Since both the FAST G3A and G3C aimed are restricted to those with Federal or State IDs and also more expensive (the G3A is US$649 while the G3C is US$419), the T3C is aimed for the training and milsim market, which airsoft is covered, but without the ballistic protection that its more expensive siblings provide. The protection provided by the FAST T3C is already more than adequate to use for airsoft and at US$89.00 (on sale right now at US$60), it is not a restricted item and thus, easy to purchase. It works the same as the FAST G3C, sans the ballistic protection. This is the product that Dr. Airsoft reviewed and highly recommends.

ACCESSORIES

There are various accessories to use the Predator Facial Armor System. Starting with the Versa Mount, this allows you to mount the G-Series to various helmet types such as the ACH, LWC, TC-2XXX, etc. The ACC rail is a rail mount system that can be accommodated by the Versa Mount so you can attach some accessories such as helmet cams and rail-mounted tactical lighting. The MWS Blast Visor is designed more for the G3A to provide a complete facial armor protection system. With the G3C and T3C, you can use other ballistic goggles and glasses.

Griffin Armament M4-SD Compensator

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

The M4-SD Tactical Compensator from Griffin Armament is a black-oxide, stainless steel military-style muzzle device offering low concussion, flash and excellent muzzle control, as well as compatibility with a number of sound suppressors.

There has been a market for muzzle devices as far as I can remember - flash hiders, brakes, compensators etc. The standard A2 compensator is still the most economical choice, but there are always folk looking for improved performance over the standard. Flash hiders reduce flash signature while compensators or brakes either aim to reduce felt recoil or muzzle jump/movement. The idea is to keep the muzzle as neutral as possible when shooting, so that any movement seen by the shooter is due to his own input. Less movement means quicker follow-up shots, or less need to adjust one's position after firing a shot. Granted, the 5.56mm round doesn't have much recoil to begin with, but if you could make it shoot like a .22 LR, why not? For the most part, muzzle brakes do a decent job of reducing muzzle movement but at the expense of increased side blast, flash and concussion. Then there are muzzle devices that attempt to strike a balance between all the desired attributes, like the PWS FSC556 and Battlecomp.

A new entry into this market is the M4-SD tactical compensator, from Griffin Armament.

Description - The M4-SD is a military-style muzzle device, designed to reduce muzzle rise and offer recoil control, while keeping concussion and flash levels to a manageable level. The M4-SD is named after Griffin's M4-SD sound suppressor, and it's compatible with the Gemtech HALO, SRT Typhoon with Atlas mount, Quicksilver's QD223, Coastal's FDX-FHM and the AAC Omni (basically, any A2-compatible suppressor mount). It's made out of 17-4PH stainless steel, and finished in black oxide.

The M4-SD is the same 22mm (.865") diameter as the standard A2 compensator, and is 1.75" long. The main portion of the comp has a slightly reduced diameter, and has 11 rows of 5 ports/holes drilled into it. The 55 holes are .078" in diameter and have .025" chamfers. At the front are 6 holes, of the same size. The concept is similar to the KAC Triple Tap and Battlecomp, but using holes instead of slots. The comp is closed on the bottom.

The M4-SD was designed to be optimized for use with sound suppressors, and is constructed with thick walls to prevent expansion of the comp inside a suppressor under use, where it's exposed to a very harsh thermal environment. Strength is the reason why the ports are configured in rings, rather than staggering or offsetting them.

The M4-SD can be installed with a crush washer to achieve the correct clocking so that the closed section is on the bottom, but peel washers are recommended for use with some suppressor mounts. I mounted the M4-SD on my Addax Tactical ATAC GPU, which is one of my favourite uppers to shoot. It's a very soft-shooting piston upper, and feels no worse than a DI gun, unlike most other piston guns I've shot.

ERGO Z Float Rail Review

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Falcon Industries’ ERGO Z Float Rail series has a unique 2-piece design that it can be installed without taking the barrel off. This handguard is great for those AR owners that don’t own any gunsmith tool and those that have an AR with permanently attached muzzle device.

To install the ERGO Z Float Rail, the Delta ring assembly needs to be removed. The simple way to do so is by cutting the ring and spring off carefully with a small rotary cutter or a hacksaw. I recommend wrapping the surrounding areas with duct taps to protect them from any slip of the cutter. Of course, if you have the proper gunsmith tools to take apart the barrel assembly, the Z Rail can be install like any typical free float handguard.

The ERGO handguard mounts on to the stock barrel nut and uses six long bolts to lock it in place. The two halves are lock together by two short tapped screws in the front and two in the back. There are cut grooves on rear of both the handguard pieces that fit on the stock barrel nut’s teeth for the proper alignment.

The new 10” extended carbine-length Z Rail M-4 “Over Shoot” model features an open-top front section to fit the A2 front sight or a rail gas block. The standard 7” model mounts flush against the front sight base. The ERGO Z Float Rail is compatible with Adams Arms and most other AR gas piston systems.

Steve Hine from Falcon Industries had informed me that they are releasing updated versions of the Z Rail handguard. The new versions have additional lightening cuts on the inner surfaces. The locking mechanism had also been simplified by eliminating the steel locking plates. The six side locking bolts are now using threaded inserts that are built into the two halve pieces. The total weight will be few ounces lighter on the new versions.

**Size**: 7-inch carbine length and 10-inch Extended Carbine Length
**Type**: Quad-rail, 2-piece design
**Weight**: 13.2 oz and 15 oz
**Construction**: CNC aircraft-grade aluminum
**Inside Diameter**: 1.15”
**Continuous Top Rail**: Yes
**Anti-Rotational Mechanism**: locks onto the stock barrel nut
**QD Sling Swivel Socket**: No
**Finishing**: Smooth Black hard coat anodized finish
**Blunted machining edges**: Yes
**Removable for maintenance**: Yes

Magpul MOE Scout

Magpul just released their new MOE Scout Mount. The MOE Scout Mount is a cantilevered weapon light attachment point that connects directly to the Magpul MOE hand gaurd. The new Magpul MOE Scout Mount was designed for use with Surefire Scount Lights but should work with many other 1913 Picatinny mounted lights. Made in the USA, the MOE Scout Mount is available in both right and left hand configurations and positions your weapon light at 11 o’clock high with the left hand model and one o’clock with the right.

SEALs upgrade to SIG Sauer P226 Mk25 Pistol

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Back in the 80s the US Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) procured SIG Sauer P226 pistols for the SEALs. The NSWC version of the P226 was later sold to the public as the SIG P226 Navy. The Navy has recently given the latest version of their P226 the designation Mk25 and SIG is now selling the Mk25 to public. It is the one with the anchor logo on the slide.

Mossie Tactics MT2400

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Mossie Tactics has developed their new MT 2400 Light mount in a partnership with Battle Comp Enterprises. Battle Comp already has a distribution system, dealers, and a heavy production capacity, so this pairing up makes sense. Combine it with a product which is so straightforward that I’m wondering why I didn’t think of it first, and it looks like they’ve got a winner.

We first got our hands on a prototype a few weeks ago, but the early production model arrived today. The piece is straightforward in how it mounts. By sliding the grooved portion onto the front sight base, the MT 2400 Light Mount snugs into place. The next step is to tighten the lower screw, then the upper screw, and you are done. If you find the mount tips up or down, adjust your screws accordingly.

The application for the MT 2400 Light Mount is that of a railed extension in the 12 o’clock position. It allows a Surefire X300 or similar light to be mounted, while still retaining functionality of the mechanical and electronic sights. Pushing a light farther forward eliminates shadowing from the barrel, and that is always a good thing. The 12 o’clock mounting position with the light means the rocker switches for the little lights can be activated with either hand, and there is less of an issue when shooting around barricades or corners.

Made in the USA from 6061 aluminum, this has a MSRP of $79, which isn’t cheap, but it is a lot less money and weight than a long rail for your weapon.

Daniel Defense Offset Rail

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

The Daniel Defense 1 O’clock Offset Rail is optimized for mounting miniature red dot optics in the 1 O’clock (right-hand) or 11 O’clock (left-hand) positions for quick, non-magnified, transitions when employing magnified primary optics on AR-type rifles with MIL-STD-1913 rails. The geometry allows for zero cheek-weld shift during the transition. This facilitates very fast transitions from magnified to non-magnified optics, and back. The 1 O’clock Offset Rail can also be used to mount a variety of lights or other accessories that mount to a MIL-STD-1913 rail. By flipping the part upside-down, one can mount a light in a good position for use with a vertical foregrip.

The SKIMMER is the ENHANCED CARRY TRIGGER SYSTEM that gives your Glock the feel of a 1911. Manufactured using 100% Glock factory parts, all of the metal components are individually hand polished to a chrome finish for consistent, reliable action. The mated surfaces glide freely, adding a smooth short transition into a predictable wall. The trigger break is crisp and clean, reducing muzzle movement. This is made possible by our unique pre-travel reduction modification, which is non-adjustable. Multiple inspection points are part of the production process. This system is completely drop-in with no fitting required.

Kahles for QBU-88

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Kahles scope for the Chinese QBU-88 Designated Marksman Rifle

During a recent police open house in one of the Chinese municipality, the SWAT team’s QBU-88 5.8mm designated marksman rifles had what seems to be the Austrian made Kahles Helia 3-12x56mm rifle scope in an elaborate mount. While it may not be well know in the US, Kahles riflescopes are among the best optics in the world. Actually this is not the first time that I had saw images of the QBU-88 with the Kahles riflescope. There were pictures from over a year ago shown the Chinese paramilitary CAPF (China Armed Police Force) was testing a similar combination at the range.

Before continuing with the Kahles, lets look at what it is replacing. The original standard issued optic for the QBU-88 is the 3-9x40mm illuminated reticle model made by the Pearl River Optronic (aka the State Arsenal 338) in Chengdu, China. The optic design was based on a Swarovski design from the early 1990s. It has three very advanced features at the time. First of those is the Constant Eye-relief through out the zoom range. The second is the First Focal Plane (FFP) reticle, which the reticle size changes according to the magnification. The third is the Bullet Drop Compensation (BDC) reticle in form of a series of small chevrons reticles all the way to 800 meters. The horizontal stadia consist of bracketed line segments in various lengths. Each of those is calibrated for shoulder width human size target at a given distant. Together with the FFP, the shooter can use the reticle for range estimation at any magnification. By design, once the Chinese 3-9x40mm DMR scope is properly zero to the QBU-88, the designated marksman can use it to engage targets at any range up to 800 meters without the need to touch the windage or elevation turret.

While the design concept sounded good on the paper, however, there are a lot of issues on the actual production model. The state owned Chinese optic manufacturer was just couldn’t maintain the quality control on large-scale production. There were reports of canted reticle, lens clarity issues and out of spec QD scope mount. Then, there is also the logistic problem due to the Pearl River Optronic went bankrupt in late 2006.

In the following year and during the preparation of the 2008 Olympic, another shortcoming of the QBU-88’s optic had surfaced. Being designed as a DMR scope, the 3-9x40mm is not suitable for the counter-terrorism role. It lacks the magnification and the optical performance to positively identify a target at the rifle’s effective range. The temporary solution was to purchase a small number of 6-24x44mm scope build by a privately owned small Chinese optic company based in Shenzhen, China. More interestingly, some Swarovski scopes were also imported for use on the QBU-88.

The most interesting part of new configuration with the Kahles scope on the QBU-88 is actually the elaborate optic mount. My good friend and IMO writer, David Fortier, had pointed out the significance of the top rail, its forward location and the box-like support structure around it. While it can be use for a small red-dot sight or a laser designator, the true purpose of the top rail is for mounting a night vision device in front of the Kahles day optic. Most likely they got the idea from LaRue Tactical’s S.T.O.M.P. system and its method of hanging a PVS-22 or 24 in front of the objective lens of the riflescope.

Beretta ARX-160

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

The ARX-160 is an assault rifle manufactured by Pietro Beretta S.p.A.. Developed for the Italian armed forces as part of theSoldato Futuro (Future Soldier in English) program, the ARX-160 has been launched in the year 2008 as a commercial weapon system independent from the Soldato Futuro ensemble, complete with a companion single-shot 40mm NATO low-velocity grenade launcher, called GLX-160, which can be underslung to the rifle or used with an ad-hoc stock system as a stand-alone weapon.

The ARX-160 departs from the previously issued Beretta 70/90 weapon system under several points of view. The weapon is composed of two receivers, both manufactured mostly in polymer, and operates through a short-stroke piston system. Feeding is through STANAG magazines. The weapon's unique features include ambidextrous safeties, magazine catches and charging handle, the ability to change which side spent casings are ejected, a quick-change barrel which can be removed and replaced in seconds without tools, picatinny rails and a foldable telescopic stock. The lightweight barrel is chrome lined and manufactured by the hammer forging process at the Beretta factory in Gardone, Val Trompia, in the Brescia region of northern Italy.

Battlecomp Compensators

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

BattleComp Enterprises, LLC, is a relatively newcomer to the industry, yet in the short time they've been around, they've made quite an impact with their line of compensators. Shown here are their 1.0 and 1.5 comps.

The market for compensators is competitive, and full of options for the customer. Muzzle devices that either reduce flash, recoil or muzzle jump have been around as far as I can remember. Repeating what I wrote in other writeups: flash hiders reduce flash signature while compensators or brakes either aim to reduce felt recoil or muzzle jump/movement. The idea is to keep the muzzle as neutral as possible when shooting, so that any movement seen by the shooter is due to his own input. Less movement means quicker follow-up shots, or less need to adjust one's position after firing a shot. The 5.56mm round doesn't have much recoil to begin with, and a solid stance and hold are the biggest factors to controlling the weapon, and these should be learned before a comp is used. However, you don't always have the chance to be in that 'perfect' stance; like when you're shooting on the move, assymetrical or awkward shooting positions etc. For those who can't shoot well in any situation, a comp probably isn't going to help much. But for those who can take advantage of the benefits a comp has to offer, it can make a difference.

The BattleComps are designed to provide a balance between muzzle control and the excessive concussion and blast that normally accompanies muzzle brakes, without increasing the flash over a standard A2.

Description - Shown here are the BCE 1.0 and 1.5. The 1.0 was the first comp offered by BattleComp. The 1.5 is an extended version of the 1.0, designed for permanent attachment on 14.5" barrels, bringing the overall barrel length to 16.1". Both are made from 17-4PH heat treated stainless steel bar stock and are available in a black oxide or matte stainless finish. They're standardd 1/2 x 28 RH threads.

There's also the BCE 2.0 (not shown here), which has the same external length and outer diameter as an A2 compensator, so that it's compatible with suppressors that mount to an A2, like the Gemtech HALO. The 1.0 and 1.5 outer diameter is slightly less than an A2, and suppressors which require an A2 mount will be too loose on them. An A2 has an outer diameter of about 0.860"-0.862", and the 1.0 and 1.5 measure around 0.850". I measured the overall lengths of the BCE 1.0 at 1.756" and the BCE 1.5 at 2.150".

The 1.0 has rows of slots/ports around the body, which alternate between two and three ports per row. There are 15 rows, and 38 ports total. The bottom quadrant of the body has no ports (where the logo is laser engraved). The muzzle of the 1.0 is concave, and has four round ports drilled into it. The 1.5 body extends beyond the muzzle (which is also concave), creating a 'stand off hood' extension with 8 more ports in it. There are four subtle crenellations on the hood leading edge. The 'ports' at the muzzle level on the 1.5 are false; they don't go through, but they're there for visual/aesthetic continuity, which is a nice touch. The 1.5 is also pre-drilled for a pin, at the bottom, for permanent attachment to a barrel that requires pinning and welding. Both comps come with crush washers for installation. Testing has shown the 1.0 and 1.5 to have identical performance.
