Black Hawk Down fans out there. Here is a simple DIY guide on how to convert your Tokyo Marui Sopmod/CQB-R to M16A3

Note: During the conversion you will need some tools and basic machining skills, if you don't have a lathe and milling machine a dremmel tool and alike will also do the job.

Base gun-Tokyo Marui Next Generation M4A1 CQB-R.


Step 1: Remove the butt stock, remove buffer tube out from the frame.


*It looks like this when all the small bits,wire and tube cap are removed.


Step 2: Remove this part. (see image to follow)


*It looks like this after machining.


Step 3: Reduce buffer tube thread from 19mm+- to 12mm+-



*It should look like this after machining.


Step 4: Grab any AEG m16 fixed butt stock and remove all the screw and butt plate


Step 5: Use A chisel to remove this tube pipe stopper (see image to follow)



*Stopper is removed out from the shell


Step 6: Use a dremel to remove these parts ( with red marks)


*It looks like this after removing.


Step 7: Insert the buffer tube to the stock, use a dremel to make a 3.30mm gap/space this is where the steel ring going to sit in. (see image to follow, do it carefully)


Step 8: Remove these two sides. Do not remove the center part this will lock on the lower frame. It should be snug fit to the lower frame. do it carefuly (see image to follow)

Step 9: Cut this steel plate, use a milling machine or metal grinder (see image to follow)

* This time you will need to replace the Tokyo Marui tube cap to ARS
CNC hard metal tube cap.This tube cap has a 5mm thread and you need a 5mm x 100mm long lock screw.


Step 10: Reinstall the buffer tube,steel ring , recoil unit, recoil spring, ARS tube cap,wire, mosfet, butt plate and lastly lock it with the long screw.

Step 11: For m16 front assembly, change the TM stock 10.5 inches outer barrel to Echigoya CNC one piece hard Steel 20 inches outer barrel



Put everything back and you're Done!!! M16A3 Black Hawk Down look alike!

Metal Receiver for Next Generation M4 Recoil Shock Series


A few years back, the airsoft industry was flooded with new innovations from Hongkong, China and Taiwan markets., thereby making the famed Tokyo Marui unpopular. But before the end of 2008, Tokyo Marui announced the first of the Next Generation Shoot and Recoil series, the SOPMOD,
manufactured with full metal body and a chrono of over 90m/s.

Tokyo Marui got the upper hand for and since then, manufacturers started to get into the bandwagon and they came out with their own products. And this next generation series became popularly known as EBBs (electric blowback).

Even with the full metal receivers of Tokyo Marui next generation series, airsoft enthusiast are still wanting for more. Now Echigoya has come with the a new aluminum full metal receiver and stock pipe for the next generation M4 series.

It is carved by a machine (CNC) on a full metal block of aluminum.

Travis Haley, previously CEO of Magpul Industries and Magpul Dynamics, has recently broken away to start his own endeavor at Haley Strategic Partners, where he’s formed an operation that I’m truly proud to endorse. Not only as a company, but Travis himself. After spending a few days getting to know Travis, I found him to be a completely down-to-earth person that I respect considerably in this industry.
I found many similarities in not only the integrity with which he runs HSP, but in his enthusiasm and passion that he exudes, as I do with ITS Tactical. It’s refreshing to see that in an industry that I’ve found to be close-minded on more than one occasion.

Along with Chief Creative Officer Jon Chang and Instructor Brannon LeBouef; HSP provides training, consulting, product T&E and marketing to the industry. We’ve even got something in the works with HSP that will be coming very soon to ITS Tactical!




Disruptive Environments

As mentioned, the Disruptive Environments course takes industry professionals that might not be otherwise exposed to the realities of the modern warfighter and gives them a glimpse into what they encounter and better understand the needs of their end user; be it peer or client.

I found the course to be a fantastic representation of a broad range of skill-sets that I typically look for in courses that I attend. While many can attend a typical multiple-day shooting course, I’ve been drawn more and more to courses that step outside of this mold as the Disruptive Environments course did.

Day 1 – Adaptive Handgun I

Delivering mentally and physically challenging weapons manipulation courses for beginners to advanced shooters, the Adaptive Pistol program pushes students to find and overcome their individual failure points, buidling proficiency through the proper fundamentals and an understanding of the human body under stress.

Days 2 & 3 – Adaptive Carbine I

From beginner to advanced shooter, the Adaptive Carbine program starts with a proper fundamentals package and escalates to high stress situations where speed, efficiency and accuracy mean shooter survival.

About the Instructor

Travis Haley is a veteran Force Reconnaissance Marine with 15 years of dedicated real world experience including: combat tours in Middle East, Africa and Central Asia. After leaving the military, Mr Haley served as a special operations and security contractor before partnering with Magpul as founder and CEO of their training division, Magpul Dynamics. Mr Haley also served as CEO of the parent company, Magpul Industries, before breaking off to form the endeavor that would become Haley Strategic Partners.
