Colt 1887 Bulldog Gatling Gun
Colt is now manufacturing a fully functioning replica of the 1887 Bulldog Gatling Gun. It fires .45-70 cartridges at up to 800 rounds per minutes (the speed depends on how fast you can crank the handle). It is an incredibly beautiful piece of machinery and worked flawlessly.

The .950 JDJ
私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

The .950 JDJ is among the world’s most-powerful, and largest-caliber, rifle cartridges. Loaded .950 JDJ cartridges are approximately the length of an empty .50 BMG casing (i.e., 4″), and are based on a 20mm Vulcan case shortened and necked up to accept the .950″ bullet. Projectiles are custom-made and most commonly weigh 3,600 grains (8.2 ounces, or over half a pound).
As its name implies, rifles chambered for the cartridge have a bore diameter of 0.950″, which would normally classify them as Destructive Devices under the 1934 National Firearms Act. However, SSK sought and received a “Sporting Use Exception” to de-regulate the rifles, meaning they can be purchased like any other rifle by a person over age 18 with no felonious criminal record. The rifles themselves use McMillan stocks and extraordinarily thick Krieger barrels bearing an 18 lb (8.2 kg) muzzle brake. Overall, depending on options, the rifles weigh between 80 and 110 pounds and are therefore only useful for shooting from a bench rest or heavy bipod. Despite the weight, recoil is significant. muzzle energy of 38,685 ft·lbf (52,450 J). For comparison, the 5.56×45 cartridge, used in the AR-15 rifle, produces approximately 1,200–1,300 ft·lbf. The .308 Winchester, a favorite for hunters and medium-range police/military sniping, produces between 2,000 and 3,000 ft·lbf (4,100 J) depending on the load used. The rifles cost $8,000, loaded cartridges are $40 each.

Employees from the muzzleloading maker Knight Rifles tried shooting the enormous .950 JDJ loaded with 2,400 grain bullets! Firing that thing looks like as much fun as being hit in the shoulder with a baseball bat.
The rifle uses a shell-holder style action. To load a shell-holder action first the bolt is removed, then the cartridge is inserted into the bolt (which grips the cartridge) and finally the bolt and cartridge are inserted into the action. This type of action is used because it is strong and relatively cheap manufacture.
Note in the video that one of the shooters is told to be very careful when inserting the bolt/cartridge and cocking the action. If anything went wrong, the heavy recoiling cannon could easily crack a skull or break a few ribs!

Noveske NSR-11

A new rail and new mounting system from Noveske Rifleworks was released at SHOTSHOW, and it certainly stands out from the rest of the AR15 rails we usually see. The keyhole style interface is beveled on the backend, and it auto centers items as they are installed. There is no need for reaching inside the rail with this one, and a screw tightens the accessories into place. When I write accessories, I mean there is an entire lineup of accessories that will be coming along for this rail. Instead of just a rail, think of this as a complete rail system, to include optional heat shields, covers, and mounts. We will post more information on the additional components as we get more info.

We have one of these rails on a Noveske 300Blackout upper that we will be shooting as part of our upcoming 300 round up. We’ll let you know how it feels in use, as well as how it shoots once we are done.
