SKD PIG FDT-ALPHA Gloves

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Sneaking in an item before the start of SHOT, we recently received several pair of pre-production gloves as the latest offering from SKD Tactical. We spoke with the SKD crew last summer, and they were hard at work on these. Their goal was a glove that gave a similar feel to shooting without gloves. That is a tall order, but from my initial impressions they came in pretty close to the mark. I’ve done a bunch of dry fire drills, searching, and weapon manipulation. I do NOT have enough time with these in an operational or training capacity to comment on them from a real world point of view, but we received a few samples so we will get them into the hands of guys who do dirty deeds for a living and report back with a long term and functional review.

Check out the grey insert for specs, and note the features such as “Ballistic Nylon Padded Knuckles – Reinforces people skills”. I’ll have to include that line in my next use of force report and see how it goes over. The SKD guys have good humor and so far it looks like the gloves are pretty good as well. We’ll let you know more about them after we work on our people skills.

Hi-Lux Leatherwood CMR 1-4x24mm Riflescope

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

The 1-4x variable magnification rifle optic had become very popular with the tactical shooters. The 1x magnification allows the shooter to use it like a reflex sight at the close range. While, the higher magnifications offer greater hit probability and target identification at the longer ranges. During last year’s Big 3 Event hosted by David Fortier and Dillard C.J. Johnson in Kansas, I was introduced to the Hi-Lux Leatherwood CMR 1-4x24mm scope in one of the presentations. Afterward, I had a chance to try it out on the range. Some aspects of the CMR that had caught my attention are its reticle design, the optic performance and its price at just $300.

The CMR 1-4x24mm in the Tactical Rifle Chimera titanium heavy-duty scope rings

CMR 1-4x24mm scope in the Burris AR-P.E.P.R mount

Normally, when other shooters ask me for optic purchase advises, I generally tell them this: you get what you pay for it. Good optics is never cheap. There rare exception to that rule and the Hi-Lux Leatherwood CMR 1-4x24mm is one of them. Its optic performance is easily the best in its price range. The lens distortion is not noticeable and there’s no issue with chromatic aberration or color fringing. Other reviewers agree with me that the CMR has better resolution and clarity than some of the 1-4x scopes that are at twice the price.

I met John Wu, the owner of Hi-Lux Leatherwood at his booth during the 2011 SHOT SHOW and he loaned me a CMR sample for T&E. I didn’t have a chance to really talk to John about the CMR in detail until this year’s Big 3 Event and afterward. He told me that he used a special lens element in the CMR to achieve the low distortion and high optical resolution. When I asked him about why he chose the second focal plane for the CMR’s reticle, John said for a low 1-4x magnification scope there’s really no need for a first focal plane design (FFP). Most of the shooters will use either 1x or 4x magnification and seldom use anything else in between. It’s not practical to use the 1x magnification for BDC or range finding.

On the topic of daylight visible reticle illumination, John said there’s two ways to do it: the cheap way is by using very bright LED. The downside of that is the internal reflection from the overpower illumination is hard to control and the battery life will be very short. If he would design a daylight visible illumination system, he would use the much more expensive combination of LED lit fiber optic and microprocessor control circuit like those found on the Schmidt & Bender Short Dot, the ELCAN SpecterDR and the Swarovski Z6. However, such system would add a considerable $200-$300 to the price of the CMR. Instead, John said the CMR’s unique reticle design works sufficiently in most of the daylight condition without the need for illumination.

Armatac unveiled their new prototype Quad-Mag. The Quad-Mag is a 5.56x45mm quad stack magazine with a 60 round capacity.

It differentiates itself from other quadstack magazines by having two separate feed channels. When the first feed channel is empty, it switches to the other channel. Essentially its two 30 round magazines in a small package. This reduces jamming in the part of the magazine where quad stacks are reduced to a duel stack for feeding.

Wilson Combat: Contemporary Classic Centennial

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

In 2011, Wilson Combat® will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the gun that helped build our company and the American genius that invented it, John Moses Browning.

Browning was the greatest firearms designer the world has ever known and the 1911 handgun is arguably his best effort. Designed in a time when electricity was still new and automobiles were a rare sight- the 1911 is a true engineering masterpiece that has not only withstood the test of time, but also evolved into what many consider the ultimate fighting pistol.

When considering a special gun to pay tribute to this important anniversary and this extraordinary man, we wondered what would John Moses Browning create today if he had Wilson Combat® engineering and manufacturing quality at his disposal and the benefit of seeing how his creation had evolved in the last century?

Using the same materials Browning would have used in his era like forged and billet machined carbon steels, select walnut for grips and painstakingly hand-finished bone charcoal blue from Doug Turnbull, Wilson Combat® has built a modern version of what Browning might have originally envisioned with his 1911-The New Wilson Combat® Contemporary Classic.

Limited to 100 serial numbered pieces in 2011, the Contemporary Classic is hand crafted with turn-of-the-century materials and finish-with many Wilson enhanced performance options to suit the modern shooter. Custom features abound-and they all have a practical purpose-fine checkering fore and aft for enhanced grip, better sights with a gold bead insert front blade, and better ergonomic controls like a beavertail grip safety that will make this an easier pistol to shoot well than an original-especially for more than a handful of rounds. A fine presentation case is included to protect and display your investment.

Browning's original features still remain like an integral lanyard loop attachment for field use and flat mainspring housing and long, steel trigger that will still fit most hands perfectly a century later. They added their carry cuts to the front of the slide in deference to Browning's second greatest handgun design, the GP-35 or "Hi-Power", a feature that gives the slide a distinctive silhouette and enables easy holstering. You will also note the "JMB" initials and unique serial number, a lasting tribute to the "Maestro" on every gun.

LaRue Tactical HandStop and IndexClip Combo

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

The Ultimate Upgrade for those who don't prefer a Vertical Grip.

We introduced these slide-on HandStops in the Fall of 2008, and have been refining them ever since. We ended up with a simple, robust and economical solution. The one-piece design has no moving parts to break, or seams to rub against. Once installed in position (they fit snugly anywhere on the rail), these devices add structure optimally to the hand, providing better support, recoil management and overall control of the rifle. Giving the rail physical obstructions also keep the support-hand intuitively in proper position, and away from dangerous SBR muzzles and hot barrels. Installation is as simple as sliding in place, and locking in position with two IndexClips.

IndexClips

These handy low-profile clips were designed to be attached on the rail, against optics, lasers and other MIL-STD-1913 mounted accessories, providing a quick-index to return to the same point...especially in the dark. Each set comes complete with 72 total clips, 60 regular and 12, designed to hold tapeswitch wires along the rail's edge. LaRue IndexClips are easy to install, and stay-put until pried off (a Dillo's foot works really well for this). Several clips in a row can be used to protect a length of rail, and feature a non-slip surface.

Sopmod Semi-Auto Mod

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

More photos one modding an airsoft gun to disable full auto firing. The same process with the Scar-H (as previously posted), just mod the selector plate and its done.

The process

First we used a heat gun for the thread lock to melt

Removing the screws on the buffer tube

Melting the solders on the battery contact assembly

Again using the heat gun for the buffer tube ring's thread lock

After that, removing the motor

Sliding the upper assembly to get into the motor

Removing the selector plate for modification

This is the Sopmod's selector plate. We will dremmel or shave off the part in red. This will prevent the cut-off lever from dis-engaging.

The dremmel process

Before and after (left to right)

Shown here in semi-auto mode, cut-off lever is in down position which means it is ready to cut the current after one cycle.

Shown here in full-auto mode. Cut-off lever stays in down position thereby no current cut-ff is still on and no full-auto.

ELCAN SpecterOS4x fixed four-power Combat Gun Sight

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Ernst Leitz Canada or ELCAN has its origin in a German premium optic manufacturer. Back in 1869, a 26-years old Ernst Leitz founded his company in Wetzlar, Germany. The company growth rapidly in the industrial revolution and its main products were microscope and optical instruments. By the early 1900s, the son of the founder, Ernst Leitz II developed the first practical 35mm photography camera. He named the camera: Leica, it stands for Leitz Camera. During the early 1930s, Leitz began to expand out of Germany by setting up oversea branches. The real reason of the Leitz expansion was a humanitarian one. Ernst Leitz II and his daughter Elsie Kuhn-Leitz used the oversea branches to evacuated hundreds of Jewish employees and their families out of Germany, thus escaping the Holocaust.

After WWII, the Ernst Leitz company was split into three: the camera and instrument divisions remained in Germany and eventually changed their names to Leica. The industrial division was moved out of Germany to join to already established Canadian branch and became know as Ernst Leitz Canada or ELCAN. It was the beginning of the Cold War and by relocating part of the company to Canada, it ensured the company’s technology and documents will not be fall into the Soviet hand if West Germany was invaded. ELCAN became a separated entity when the last Leitz family member retired from the company in 1990.

ELCAN produces high-resolution optical lens for aural reconnaissance, night vision equipment and other optronics for many NATO militaries. It started in 1954, when ELCAN began supplying aircraft gun sight to the Canadian military. During the Vietnam War, the US Navy had used an ELCAN camera system based on Leica with specially made low-light Noctilux lens. By the 1970s, ELCAN had ventured into small arms optical sight development with a compact roof prism design. That eventually became the ELCAN C79 3.4x28mm that the Canadian Forces issue as the combat optic for their C7 and C8 rifles and C6 and C9 machineguns. In 1999, the US Army adapted a modified battery illumination version of the C79 as the M145 for their M240 and M249 machineguns. In 2003, ELCAN released their new Specter series with the dual-role 1x/4x SpecterDR and it was quickly adopted by the US SOCOM as the SU-230/PVS. The featured ELCAN OS4x fixed 4x magnification model was released in 2009 and it was selected by the British military as the replacement for the SUSAT sight on their L85A2 bullpup rifle.

The ELCAN SpecterOS4x

The latest ELCAN model can trace its roof prism layout back to the C79. The OS4x stands simply for Optical Sight and the fixed 4x magnification. The sight itself is based on the SpecterDR 1x/4x model’s housing design, external adjustment mount, lens size and optical formula, and the illumination unit. The SpecterOS4x is essentially a SpecterDR without the complex cam-driven corrective 1x magnification lens system and the rudimentary integral backup iron sight. Those changes had led to a weight reduction of 5 ounces, a more streamlined exterior and a substantial $600 lower price tag. The eye relief is a generous 2.75 inches or 70mm with an ample 7.8mm exist pupil. The ELCAN’s robust external adjustment mount features a 120 MOA windage and elevation adjustment with 0.5 MOA click. There’s sufficient height at the back to clear any flip-up rear sights on the market.

Optically the ELCAN SpecterOS4x is phenomenal and it can rival some of the best Euro optics. I found the resolution and clarity remains the same from the center of the lens to the edges on all planes with no noticeable lens distortion. There’s also no observable tunnel-effect from the sight picture. There are two reticles available and both feature BDCs for 62gr 5.56x45mm round fired from a 16-inch barrel. That was specifically designed so the BDCs will also work for 14.5-inch carbine length and 18 to 20-inch rifle length barrel. Reticle with 7.62x51mm caliber BDCs is available. I prefer the chevron reticle for quick target acquisition but the fine crosshair reticle, which is the British military’s choice, is good for precision shooting. The reticle illumination is daylight visible on the center chevron or fine crosshair. Turn the large illumination knob forward will light up the reticle center or backward to illuminates the whole reticle. Battery life is 300-600 hours on daylight visible settings or up to 2000-3000 hours on low settings. I left it on the daylight visible setting continuously and the battery lasted just over a month. For most daylight usage the reticle illumination is not needed.

Scar-H Takedown and Semi-Auto Mod

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

This is the new Scar-h from Tokyo Marui. Is this post I will show you basic takedown of the Scar-h to get into the gearbox.
I will also show the simplest way to disable the full auto of the gun. (New Zealand law on airsoft is that all guns must only be on semi-auto), we are shipping this gun to New Zealand.

Takedown

First remove these two screws including the one in the middle

Then on the end of the rail remove this screw. You might need to remove the rear sight or just loosen it and slide it.

Then these two screws (both sides)

In removing the upper asembly just slide it towards the front

Then fold the buttstock...

...and remove these two screws

Separate the power connectors...

Unlike here it is still connected (my first time to open up a Scar)

Now just remove the motor M4 style

After removing the motor slide this pin out and then you can safely slide the gearbox out

Just showing the mechanism that makes this gun ambidextrous

Now takedown is done

Semi-Auto Modification

Our first thought of Semi-auto mod is to block the selector plate into going full auto. But our master techs showed us a way to do it without blocking the function the selector lever. it involves modding the selector plate to disable the cut-off lever into going full auto.

Here is the selector plate

We will remove the part in red...

...this part when pushed back (full-auto mode) will lift and disable the cutoff lever thereby the continuous flow of current and full auto

Dremmeling

Finished and installed. This mod will not only disable the full-auto but the player can still push the selector lever into full auto but still get semi-auto.

Blackhawk Down in Desert Union

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

When I saw this, I decided to reblog it. It is a game there they recreate the Blackhawk down movie.

The fascinating thing about Japanese airsoft players is that they really dress the part well. I noticed that most if not all Us forces are wearing the tricolor desert BDU and using M4s, M16s and M14 which is consistent with the movie. The insurgents also wearing ordinary everyday clothes and armed and with different types of AKs and RPGs.
It really looked they had fun that day, wishing that I was there too.

VSR-10 Gspec Takedown and Upgrade

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

This my Tokyo Marui Gspec. This is full stock and shooting at 89m/s. I will show a step by step takedown and will also show you how to make it shoot at 96-98m/s just by changing the inner brass barrel with the PSS10 430 mm 6.03 barrel.

I will be installing the following:
PDI light bull barrel
PDI bull barrel cap
PDI barrel space
PSS10 6.03 tightbore barrel 430mm

First remove the dummy silencer (you dont have have to if you ample space). Then remove these two screws near the magazine well. after removing screws you can pull the upper assembly out in upward motion.

This is the mag catch assembly, be careful because they have a tendency to fly off and they are hard to find.

Showing the upper separated from the lower.

Now remove this screw.

And loosen these two screws, no need to remove. You just need to loosen them so you can unscrew the barrel from the barrel base.

After separating the barrel from the barrel base, you are now ready to remove the inner barrel assembly. First remove these two screws.

Also take out this screw to remove the hop-up lever.

Now we are ready to replace the TM brass barrel with the PSS10 barrel

First remove the 3 screws that holds the barrel (in green) and then the two screws (in red) to open the hop assembly

All disassembled as shown here. Just replace the barrel and reassemble it back.

Now to prepare the bull barrel, first we need to insert the barrel spacer inside the bull space. They are a little bit tight but I rubbed a few drops of silicon into the o-rings.

Then using the brass barrel I removed to push it into place

Now you are ready to insert the inner barrel assembly

Push it into place and make sure these two holes are aligned. It is where one of the screw goes. After aligning, you also need the put back the hopup lever.

As shown here you are ready to screw on the barrel into the barrel base

I suggest using a little bit of teflon tape

You can also remove the hop sticker into the new one

And install the bull barrel cap anywhere during the process

And from here it is just reverse reassembly and you have new look. In installing the 430mm PSS10 tightbore barrel you gain at least 7-9m/s. I already upgraded 3 gspec with just that barrel and it is always the case. I havent tried the pdi since I am already getting good results with the laylax PSS10.

Photos of the final look of my VSR will be posted after I out the finishing touches. I am planning to paint it and I will also post the process here so keep posted.

Umarex USA are importing .22 pistols and rifles patterned on the famous UZI machine gun. The guns are manufactured by Carl Walther in Germany but are branded IWI (the official UZI manufacturer). There are two models. The rifle model modeled after the UZI carbine and includes a folding stock and faux suppressor. The pistol model is modeled after the Micro UZI machine pistol.

Griffin Armament M4-SD Compensator

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

The M4-SD Tactical Compensator from Griffin Armament is a black-oxide, stainless steel military-style muzzle device offering low concussion, flash and excellent muzzle control, as well as compatibility with a number of sound suppressors.

There has been a market for muzzle devices as far as I can remember - flash hiders, brakes, compensators etc. The standard A2 compensator is still the most economical choice, but there are always folk looking for improved performance over the standard. Flash hiders reduce flash signature while compensators or brakes either aim to reduce felt recoil or muzzle jump/movement. The idea is to keep the muzzle as neutral as possible when shooting, so that any movement seen by the shooter is due to his own input. Less movement means quicker follow-up shots, or less need to adjust one's position after firing a shot. Granted, the 5.56mm round doesn't have much recoil to begin with, but if you could make it shoot like a .22 LR, why not? For the most part, muzzle brakes do a decent job of reducing muzzle movement but at the expense of increased side blast, flash and concussion. Then there are muzzle devices that attempt to strike a balance between all the desired attributes, like the PWS FSC556 and Battlecomp.

A new entry into this market is the M4-SD tactical compensator, from Griffin Armament.

Description - The M4-SD is a military-style muzzle device, designed to reduce muzzle rise and offer recoil control, while keeping concussion and flash levels to a manageable level. The M4-SD is named after Griffin's M4-SD sound suppressor, and it's compatible with the Gemtech HALO, SRT Typhoon with Atlas mount, Quicksilver's QD223, Coastal's FDX-FHM and the AAC Omni (basically, any A2-compatible suppressor mount). It's made out of 17-4PH stainless steel, and finished in black oxide.

The M4-SD is the same 22mm (.865") diameter as the standard A2 compensator, and is 1.75" long. The main portion of the comp has a slightly reduced diameter, and has 11 rows of 5 ports/holes drilled into it. The 55 holes are .078" in diameter and have .025" chamfers. At the front are 6 holes, of the same size. The concept is similar to the KAC Triple Tap and Battlecomp, but using holes instead of slots. The comp is closed on the bottom.

The M4-SD was designed to be optimized for use with sound suppressors, and is constructed with thick walls to prevent expansion of the comp inside a suppressor under use, where it's exposed to a very harsh thermal environment. Strength is the reason why the ports are configured in rings, rather than staggering or offsetting them.

The M4-SD can be installed with a crush washer to achieve the correct clocking so that the closed section is on the bottom, but peel washers are recommended for use with some suppressor mounts. I mounted the M4-SD on my Addax Tactical ATAC GPU, which is one of my favourite uppers to shoot. It's a very soft-shooting piston upper, and feels no worse than a DI gun, unlike most other piston guns I've shot.

Blackhole

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

Again I went to blackhole this year. It is a little bit disappointing because the entrance fee has gone up considerably. I also heard from exhibitor that booth prices have gone that’s why the exhibitor have also gone down by I would say about 40%.
But it is great to be there again since I love airsoft and my fascination is always there.

Some of the light moment is this guy wearing full battle gear shooting a different kind of shooting machine, complete with an eotech holosight and a sopmod crane stock.

I also found a half scale replica of the Oakley bag I was carrying that day.

Scar Heavy from Tokyo Marui

私たちのブログを訪問していただきありがとうございます。あなたがお持ちの場合DIYの要求は私達に電子メールを送信してください。

This is about the new Scar Heavy from Tokyo Marui. although by this time a lot of people may already made a lot of review about it but I decided to post the photos I took of it just the same. and of course a few comments here and there.

In the box: The gun looks great and very secure with two straps of velcro securing it instead of the usual one that Tokyo Marui uses.

The manual is also secure under the black mat. The flashhider looks great as well as the gas block.

The magazine is new design from Tokyo Marui. I also like that they made it with the magazine baseplate. It looked better than the ordinary M14 mag.

Markings still looks good

The usual bag of BBs and a front sight adjustment tool under the TM mini box.

The barrel extension for those who want that carbine look.
